Diamonds make strong showing in $2.2 million Heritage Fine Jewelry Auction, Dec. 6
Fancy Intense Yellow Diamond, Diamond, Gold and Platinum ring leads at $37,343
DALLAS, TX -- Diamonds were dominant in the Dec. 6 Signature® Jewelry Auction at Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas,
capturing the imagination of collectors and a place in nine of the Top 10 lots in the entire $1 million+ Jewelry side of the event. The fine timepieces portion of the auction was held on Dec. 7 and
realized $1.2 million.
"It's encouraging to see collectors buying diamonds as they did in this auction," said Jill Burgum, Director of Jewelry Auctions at Heritage. "Clearly they were willing to spend appropriately for the best examples."
A compelling Fancy Intense Yellow Diamond, Diamond, Gold and Platinum ring came in at $37,343 to occupy the top slot in the auction. Featuring a radiant-cut diamond measuring 9.05 x 8.30 x 5.50 mm, and weighing approximately 4.33 carats, the ring is enhanced by trapezoid and full-cut diamonds for a total weight of approximately 1.75 carats, set in platinum, with 18k yellow gold accents.
Not far behind, at a final price of $33,460, came a superb Diamond, Cultured Pearl, Black Onyx, Gold Jewelry Suite from the Panthere de Cartier Collection. The striking set includes one necklace featuring full-cut diamonds enhanced by carved black onyx, pavé set in 18k yellow gold; one pair of matching earrings with cultured pearl highlights together with a matching ring. Total diamond weight for the suite is approximately 7.00 carats.
Two superlative diamond rings followed to satisfy the demand of high-end collectors as a Diamond and Gold ring featuring an emerald-cut diamond measuring 11.90 x 8.00 x 5.75 mm and weighing approximately 5.00 carats, enhanced by full-cut diamonds, flush set in 18k yellow gold, with a total diamond weight of approximately 5.75 carats, brought $28,680, while an Art Deco Diamond and White Gold Ring, featuring a European-cut diamond measuring 12.50 - 12.30 x 6.25 mm and weighing approximately 5.85 carats, with bezel set in decorative 14k white gold, also realized $26,680.
An elegant and altogether graceful Diamond and Gold Jewelry Suite garnered a good amount of attention and, subsequently, heated bidding to finish the day at $26,290. The suite includes a necklace featuring marquise-shaped diamonds weighing a total of approximately 20.90 carats, enhanced by full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 19.80 carats, further enhanced by pear-shaped diamonds weighing a total of approximately 3.20 carats, accented by baguette-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 2.60 carats. This was presented together with a matching bracelet featuring marquise-shaped diamonds weighing a total of approximately 6.35 carats, enhanced by full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 6.30 carats, accented by baguette-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 2.85 carats, set in 18k white gold. Total diamond weight for the suite is approximately 62.00 carats.
Timepiece collectors had their eyes on Cartier at the $1.2 million Heritage Auctions Signature Timepiece sale on Dec. 7 as a fantastically rare Diamond, Jade, Pearl, Coral and Rock Mystery Clock brought $155,350 and a gorgeous Silver, Gold Jadeite and Pearl Four Dial Eight Day Lamp-Form Desk Clock, from the Collection of the American Red Cross, brought $65,725.

The bracelet features full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 2.85 carats, bezel set in platinum, atop black enamel applied on 18k yellow gold. Marked Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. Made in France. Realized: $15,535.
Lapis Lazuli, Diamond, Platinum, Gold Necklace from David Webb: Features an oval-shaped lapis lazuli cabochon, enhanced by lapis lazuli cabochons, accented by full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 2.50 carats, set in platinum atop fancy 18k yellow gold links, completed by a concealed clasp. Realized: $12,547.50.
Smoky Quartz, Gold Bracelet, Buccellati: A wonderful hinged bangle featuring an emerald-cut smoky quartz measuring 29.00 x 23.00 x 14.00 mm and weighing approximately 60.00 carats, set in finely engraved 18k yellow gold. Realized: $11,950.
