Heritage World Coin Auctions a Smash Success!
DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage World Coin Auctions (HWCA) held its latest Signature auction on June 2-3, in Long Beach, CA, as part of Heritage Numismatic Auctions, Inc. (HNAI) official auction for the Long Beach Coin Expo. The overall total for the auction was $2,077,637. 2,086 bidders competed for 2,641 lots, 522 of them successfully. 97.64% of the lots were sold. 3 bidders won 8 lots after the auction, for a total of $2,271.
"I'm thrilled by the results of this auction," said Warren Tucker, Director of HWCA. "We had some rare and exciting coins in this auction, and bidders responded enthusiastically. I'm particularly pleased by the high level of participation we saw during this event, and the spectacular percentage of lots sold. Collectors today are grabbing every great world coin they can find, leaving very few pieces on the table when an auction comes to a close."
"The star of the show was undoubtedly the Charles I Gold Triple Unite 1643," Tucker continued. "This coin was a particular pleasure, as its $431,250 result is a new record for its type, and the second highest price ever realized for a British coin."
The Long Beach World Coin Signature Auction included the Tortuga Collection of Latin American Coinage, as well as an extensive collection of 250+ Germanic coins, including 15 multiple talers.
