Family of Auctions

Family of Auctions

Heritage Auctions offer collectors, investors and dealers a wide range of choices for selling their valuable holdings. Heritage regularly offers several different auction options for collectibles. These auctions feature our award-winning Interactive Internet™ eCommerce auction software to maximize bidding interest and prices realized. Consistent interface and passwords are used throughout the Heritage family of auctions so any bidder who has participated in one type of auction may easily participate successfully in all of them.

Your personal Consignment Director will help you determine the best auction for your items. Below is a quick introduction to each auction venue.

Grand Format, Signature® and Platinum Night® Auctions

Grand Format, Signature and Platinum Night Auctions may be held in Heritage's main galleries in Dallas, but usually occur in other cities, often in conjunction with major conventions or collector events. Items in the auction include photography and detailed descriptions, all of which are posted online at HA.com along with vast additional information not available in the printed catalog and designed to help bidders make educated purchasing decisions while saving them time. These auctions are offered online as well as through a printed catalog, with bids accepted via telephone, fax, Internet, mail, and live during auction event.

!! Heritage Live®: After Internet bidding closes, live bidding will take place through www.HA.com/Live. Your secret maximum bid placed prior to the live event will compete against the live bids. To maximize your chances of winning, enter realistic secret maximum bids on our site. Many of our proxy bidders are successful at winning lots in these auctions, and usually below their secret maximum. You can also place last minute bids directly with us by e-mailing Bid@HA.com or calling 1-866-835-3243. (Important note: Due to software and Internet latency, live bids may not register in time, so enter realistic proxy bids.)

Slightly different bidding rules apply to the different session types:

Signature Floor Session (Live Floor, Live Phone, Mail, Fax, Internet, and Heritage Live)
Internet bidding ends at 10:00PM CT the night before the floor session for this lot. During the live auction event, bidding in person is encouraged, and Heritage Live includes streaming audio and often video during the event.

Signature Internet Session - No Floor or Phone Bidding (Mail, Fax, Internet, and Heritage Live)
Internet Proxy bidding ends two hours prior to the opening of the live auction for that lot. Check the Time Remaining on individual lots for details.) These auctions are presented only online, although the lots are normally available for viewing with the Floor Session lots.

Signature Session - Extended Bidding
These auctions are presented only online and bidding is only taken through our website. There are two phases of bidding during this type of auction: 1) Normal bidding: Bids are taken up until 10 PM CT the night the auction closes. 2) 30 Minute Ending: On a lot-by-lot basis, starting at 10:00 PM CT, any person who has bid on the lot previously may continue to bid on that lot until there are no more bids for 30 minutes. For example, if you bid on a lot during Normal Bidding, you could participate during Extended Bidding for that lot, but not on lots you did not bid on previously. If a bid was placed at 10:15, the new end time for that lot would become 10:45. If no other bids were placed before 10:45, the lot would close. If you are the high bidder on a lot, changing your bid will not extend the bidding during the 30 Minute Ending phase (only a bid from another bidder will extend bidding). If you are the only bidder at 10 PM, you will automatically win the lot at 10:30.
Important: After normal bidding ends, you must be signed-on to the Heritage site to see the bidding option on lots where you qualify for extended bidding.

(Sports) Signature Internet Phone
These auctions are presented via catalog and online. Bidding is taken by phone or through our website. Heritage Currency Signature Auctions

Heritage, the dominant name in American currency auctions, became a part of Heritage Numismatic Auctions during 2001. Principals Len Glazer and Allen Mincho, two of the top currency experts in the world, are now a part of the Heritage team, and our combined strengths as the world's largest rare coin and currency dealership and auctioneer are formidable.

That combination has already created additional opportunities for both buyers and sellers of paper money, with more frequent (and larger) Heritage Signature auctions taking place at conventions around the country. Currency sellers now have greater access to potential bidders because of Heritage's huge customer base added to Heritage's traditional buyers, plus our marketing expertise, financial strength, and advanced Internet technologies.

These auctions may be held in Heritage's main galleries in Dallas, but usually occur in other cities, often in conjunction with major conventions or collector events. Items in the auction include photography and detailed descriptions, all of which are posted online at HA.com along with vast additional information not available in the printed catalog and designed to help bidders make educated purchasing decisions while saving them time.
