Heritage Music and Entertainment Auction Posts Star-Studded Results!

James Dean Memorabilia Draws Strong Bidding

DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Auction Galleries' latest Music and Entertainment Signature Auction, held October 6 & 7 in Dallas, Texas, posted results of $1,329,363 for 1,840 lots. With 2,177 bidders participating, over 88.5% of the lots offered were sold. After-auction sales are still ongoing and are expected to push the total to even higher levels.

"This was a very exciting auction," said Doug Norwine, Director of Music and Entertainment Auctions for Dallas-based Heritage, "especially the James Dean material, all of which was offered with no reserve, and much of which sold for significantly more than our pre-auction estimates. Dean is an icon in the entertainment world, whose tragically brief career produced a relatively small amount of memorabilia. Fans worldwide have been clamoring for an auction of this type, and we were very pleased to provide it to them."

"Another area that performed very strongly in this auction was screen-worn hats," said Norwine. "From the fedora Al Pacino wore in the Godfather to Oliver Hardy's stylish black bowler, these legendary lids were hotly contested and brought strong prices."

Heritage Auction Galleries will hold their next Music and Entertainment Signature auction on April 6 & 7, 2007, at their headquarters in Dallas, TX.
