$10+ Million Heritage Dallas Auction
5000+ U.S. Coin Lots in Signature and Online Sessions
DALLAS, TEXAS: A trio of unique twentieth century gold rarities - coins that in theory do not exist - are among more than 5,000 rare U.S. coins that will be offered by Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas, Texas, November 29-30, 2006. The Dallas Signature Auction, at Heritage's world headquarters, contains nearly 3,000 lots, and the OnLine Session contains an additional 2,200 lots. All lot descriptions and illustrations are currently online at HA.com.
"Heritage's November Dallas auction contains a wide assortment of rare gold," said Heritage President Greg Rohan, "led by the three fascinating Matte Proof gold coins that do not officially exist, per mintage records. Their original source is unknown, but conjecture logically puts it with someone close to mint officials or engravers. The coins will be sold as:
Lot 2352: 1910 $2.50 Matte PR66 NGC, and the only matte proof quarter eagle from 1910 known.
Lot 2353: 1909 $5 Matte PR67 NGC, also unique and probably experimental.
Lot 2354: 1910 $5 Matte PR67 NGC, the third unique Matte proof issue.
Among other gold rarities, the finest collection of American $5 and $10 Indian gold coins, assembled by the noted plastic surgeon Dr. Eugene Cherny, is anchoring the November auction. The catalog also contains significant rarities in many other series."
Anchor consignments included in the Dallas Signature Auction: The Blowing Rock Collection; The Eugene Cherny Collection of 20th Century Gold; The Park Cities Collection; and The Clifton Rodenburg Collection, Part Two.
