Jones Beach Pattern Collection To Anchor Heritage's 2007 F.U.N. Auction in Orlando
270 Patterns Plus Hundreds of Type Coins
DALLAS, TEXAS: The Jones Beach Pattern Collection, consisting of 270 pieces, will be auctioned by Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas at their January 3-6, 2007 official auction of the Florida United Numismatists convention. The auction will be held at the Orange County Convention facility in Orlando. Heritage's auctions at F.U.N. will total more than $50 million of rare coins and currencies; lot descriptions and full-color, enlargeable images will be online at HA.com in mid-December.
"The consignor of the Jones Beach Collection enjoyed an early interest in rare coins in the 1950s and 1960s," noted Heritage President Greg Rohan, "but his aggressive collecting began only in 1999. He made up for his 'late' start with uncanny enthusiasm pursuing eye-appealing coins and Patterns. He liked the history implicit in Colonial coins and the aesthetics of type coins, but his investor orientation drew him inexorably to Patterns for their history, their rarity, and, to him, their substantial undervaluation. His Stella patterns are simply amazing, as are most of his selections. After extensive research he purchased patterns as an investment, but always with a great 'fun' factor. Heritage is honored to have been selected to auction the Jones Beach Collection - 270 Patterns plus hundreds of type coins - at F.U.N. in our Platinum Night and Signature auctions."

Despite its pewter fabric, this piece has only moderate marks from circulation and handling.
