Heritage's F.U.N. Currency Auction Tops $10 Million

Helps Set $75 Million-Plus World Record for Largest Numismatic Auction

DALLAS, TX: The official currency auction of the Florida United Numismatists convention achieved prices realized of $10,385,202. When combined with the F.U.N. proceeds for U.S. Coins totaling $65,180,395, a new world's record for the largest numismatic auction ever was set by Heritage Auction Galleries in Orlando. The previous world's record of $61.7 million was set by Heritage at the 2005 FUN convention.

According to Jim Fitzgerald, Heritage's Director of Currency Auctions, "More than 900 consignors trusted Heritage with their prized notes and coins, and 6,412 bidders participated in the coin and currency Signature auctions - with even higher counts to come after the OnLine currency and coin sessions."

"As pleased as we are with breaking the $10 million threshold," added Dustin Johnston, Director of Currency Auctions, "we still expect a substantial increase in prices realized due to record-setting Post-Auction Buys. After the OnLine currency and coin sessions close on January 9, the world record should easily rise another million dollars!"

Len Glazer noted that "The strength of the currency market continues to amaze all participants, both buyers and sellers. The high prices seem to have drawn onto the market much material that has been hidden away for decades, and collectors simply cannot get enough fresh material at any price level."

"We are already receiving consignments for our May 2007 C.S.N.S. auction in St. Louis," concluded Allen Mincho, "so we can promise another exciting auction. We will be accepting consignments through March 15, and we invite anyone wishing to learn more about auction opportunities to contact us at 800-872-6467 ext. 555."
