Heritage Comic Auction Realizes $1.2 Million!

DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Auction Galleries' most recent auction of rare and vintage comic books and original comic art realized $1,234,883 for 1,147 lots offered, although after auction sales are still ongoing, and are expected to push the final total even higher.

"This was a solid start to what looks to be a solid year," said Ed Jaster, Vice-President for Heritage. "Superman and original art were the stars of this auction, but we saw great strength in a number of areas, including the ever-strong high-grade Silver Age category. I was particularly gratified by the strong performance of the Steve Ditko Amazing Spider-Man page, which pictured a pulse-pounding battle between Ol' Webhead and the scurrilous Scorpion, and which may represent a new high watermark for these desirable pages."

"The copy of Superman #1 that we offered showed a particularly strong result," Jaster commented, "realizing a price that far surpassed its current Guide value. A super result, indeed!"

"High-grade Silver Age comics did exceptionally well," said Jaster, "with a number of offerings bringing many times Guide prices. As we've seen over the last several auctions, there exists strong interest in these books, especially Silver Age DC titles like Action Comics and Flash."

"We're hard at work on preparing our next auction even as we speak," Jaster said, "so look for even more excitement and surprises this spring!"
