Palakika Type Coins Highlight Heritage's Central States Platinum Night And Signature Auctions

Palakika Type Coins Highlight Heritage's Central States Platinum Night And Signature Auctions

Dallas, TX: A magnificent collection of type coins will be auctioned in Heritage's Official Auction of the Central States Numismatic Society convention, being presented by Heritage Auction Galleries May 10-12, 2007 in St. Louis. The Palakika Collection was formed by a dedicated collector over a period of three decades, with all of the coins being off the market for a least a decade. The Collection will be divided between the Platinum Night and Signature catalogs.

"The Palakika consignor," noted Heritage President Greg Rohan, "started collecting coins in 1972, following in his father's footsteps. After collecting out of circulation and buying from collector friends, his sophistication, taste, and budget grew. His first goal was a type set of coins designed by Christian Gobrecht, and from there he began to pursue other series. Both local and national dealers held his want list, and regularly sent him material. He enjoyed the process of searching for coins, and summarized his collecting decades as "It's been fun." He intends to continue collecting with new goals."

"We have been gratified by the number of wonderful coins already received for Central States," concluded Rohan. "So many significant rarities are included that we will be presenting one of our renowned Platinum Night sessions in St. Louis."
