Heritage Offers Decorative Arts Treasures in Upcoming Auction!
Dallas, TX: On November 1 & 2, in their Dallas, Texas headquarters, Heritage Auction Galleries will present their latest auction of Decorative Arts, featuring fine examples of silver, hollow ware, furniture, sculpture, ceramics, rugs and more. More than 800 lots will be up for bid, including splendid antique furniture from the personal collection of Dallas designers Loyd-Paxton and a wonderful array of fine sculpture from Dr. John L. Pellegrini.
"This is a very exciting auction," said Michael Wolf, Deputy Managing Director of Fine and Decorative Arts for Heritage, "with many fine examples of exceptional art from Ancient Rome to mid-century America."
"Our American silver selection is highlighted by an exquisite 233-piece service of Tiffany 'Vine' flatware, designed in 1872," Wolf said. "This is a real treasure, and should cause some very spirited bidding. Collectors of American silver will also be tempted by a Gorham silver creamer and sugar bowl, as well as a Reed & Barton ice bucket and tongs."
"We're also offering several wonderful pieces of sculpture," said Wolf, "including a Roman marble sarcophagus, a larger-than-life-size Carrara marble sculpture of the Venus de Medici, after the antique, and a marble Dionysus figure with child satyr. Pieces like this are rarely offered at auction, making this a great opportunity for collectors to acquire these rare pieces."
Wolf continued, "Collectors of fine furniture won't be disappointed, as they'll be able to bid on such desirable pieces as an important Italian Rococo-style giltwood console table, a French 18th century gilt bronze and marquetry commode à vantaux, a George III giltwood armchair, and even an Edward J. Wormley mid-century modern sofa grouping."
"There's so much on offer in this important auction," Wolf said, "and the few pieces mentioned here barely scratch the surface. I'd invite anyone interested in these unique treasures to visit our website at www.HA.com, where they'll see full-color, enlargeable images of each and every lot, complete with our thorough and informative catalog descriptions. Best of all, they'll even be able to place their bids online from the comfort and convenience of their home or office."
