1966 Romanee Conti case expected to bring $85,000+ at Heritage-Martin joint wine auction

More than 800 lots of exceptional wine from the collection of an American financier, June 16, at Heritage Auctions in Beverly Hills and simulcast in Hong Kong

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – A full wood case of 1966 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti is estimated to bring $85,000+as the highlight lot from the superb collection of an American financier in the Heritage and Greg Martin Auctions joint Signature® Wine Auction, Thursday, June 16, at the Heritage Beverly Hills offices, 9478 West Olympic Blvd.

The auction will be simulcast from the Heritage Beverly Hills office on June 16 at 6 p.m., PST to the Island Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong, June 17 at 9 a.m. HKT.

“This special collaboration brings together resources from both Heritage and Greg Martin for a very deep summer auction that should excite discerning wine connoisseurs,” said Frank Martell, Director of Fine Wines at Heritage, “particularly those of France’s most celebrated wine estates: Château Latour, Château Margaux, and Château Lafite Rothschild.”

In particular, aficionados of Château Lafite Rothschild will find reason to celebrate the offerings in the auction, with a seldom seen 1949 Château Lafite Rothschild, in desirable 2.5 Liter “Pot Gascogne” format, perhaps topping the list with a $5,500+ estimate. A single bottle of 1891 Château Lafite Rothschild, originally dating to the historic Heublein auctions in 1980, is also sure to motivate collectors with its unimpeachable provenance. It is estimated at $2,400+.

Among astute oenophiles 2000 Château Mouton Rothschild is a much coveted name and a 12-bottle lot (estimate: $11,000+) and 6 Liter imperial (estimate: $9,000+) of the esteemed vintage should command bids to equal that regard when they come on the block. Likewise, several lots of 2000 Château Petrus, with full case quantities (estimate: $37,500+), should inspire the palates and the bids of collectors.

An extremely rare bottle of 1937 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti (estimate: $10,000+) provides for one of the auction’s most alluring and intriguing lots, while a 12-bottle lot of 1989 La Mission Haut-Brion (estimate: $9,000+), a wine that has developed a devoted following in the 20+ years since its vintage, will find a new home when it comes up for auction as part of the June 16 event.
