Heritage Buys Jaster Collectibles Web Site and Client List Ed Jaster Becomes Heritage's Director of Acquisitions
Dallas, TX -- After consulting with Heritage Comics Auctions part-time for several months, Ed Jaster, one of the top comic book and vintage comics art dealers in America, will soon be moving from Chicago to Dallas. "Heritage made me a very fair offer, and my wife Pamela, daughter Madeleine and I decided as a family that Heritage was the best possible opportunity for us. Heritage's entry into comics has been terrific for the hobby, and their marketing is helping attract new collectors every day. Plus I love working here with the best comics and art, a truly beneficial suite of auction and sales services to offer clients, and great co-workers. I'm thrilled to be a member of this world-class team, and delighted to be part of the Heritage family. What an amazing company!"Heritage's owners are equally enthusiastic. "I'd been buying from Ed for a while for my own collection," says Heritage co-owner Jim Halperin, "and Ed was as fair and honest as any dealer I'd ever dealt with. His knowledge of comics and art is astonishing. Plus Ed's a great guy - totally enjoyable to work with. He is the perfect person to lead our acquisitions efforts."
The frosting on the cake is the purchase of Ed's popular web site, www.NearMint.com, which will soon direct added traffic to Heritage's already-phenomenal site http://www.HeritageComics.com, and the Jaster Collectibles client list - thousands of the top comics collectors in the world. "Ed's legendary client list is an added bonus for our consignors," enthuses Heritage Comics Auctions Director John Petty. "More active bidders means higher prices, and nobody attracts more bidders than Heritage!"
Ed began collecting comics as an eight-year-old in suburban Chicago. By the age 14 he had assembled a complete Marvel collection, as well as more DC, EC and Golden Age than most advanced collectors ever acquire. During the early nineties Ed turned his attention to vintage comic books once again. Ed has collected comics of virtually every genre and era, always the best examples available. He has personally owned hundreds of pedigree books, scores of key issues and the cover art for dozens of comics. Of course, all this takes money. In order to help assuage the tremendous outlays required, Ed became a part-time dealer. His "Heroes and Headlights" ads soon graced the pages of the CBG on a regular basis. A little over three years ago he began selling comics on a full time basis.
Jaster Collectibles was incorporated in 1999. Immediately, "Jaster" became a force in the vintage comic book market. Ed has bought and sold complete runs of Mile Highs, multiple copies of Detective #27, Captain America #1, Batman #1, Amazing Fantasy #15, etc. Annual sales were consistently over seven figures. Ed is certainly the most experienced and credentialed member of Heritage's staff to date. He is a Senior Overstreet Advisor, won several CBG Customer Service Awards, served as an AACC Grading and Certification panelist for Christie's auction in 1994 and 1995, and has been published in several Overstreet Price Guides, Comic Book Marketplace and the Comic Buyer's Guide.
Prospective consignors and sellers are invited to call Ed at 1-214-252-4288 to discuss their rare comics and original art. Or visit http://www.heritagecomics.com/auctions/consigning.asp.
