Scott Cordry Joins Heritage
Dallas, TX: Heritage is proud to announce the addition of another valued member to our World Coin Auctions team. "I am pleased to be working once again with Scott, and I am sure Heritage will benefit greatly from his expertise within the world coin field," noted Heritage's World Coin Auction Consignment Coordinator, Warren Tucker.Scott has been collecting coins since he was 10 years old, starting with US coins, then Swedish coins, and moving on to collecting Islamic coins. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, from 1967-1971, and spent his junior year at the University of Lund, Sweden. He worked in Bjarne Ahlstrom's coin shop in Stockholm that summer, and graduated in 1971 with Phi Beta Kappa honors in World History and Scandinavian Languages.
Shortly thereafter, he accepted an offer from Worldwide Coins in Atlanta to work in their foreign department with Warren Tucker and Louis Collins. In 1972, he formed his own company, and later that year created Cordry & Craig International with Freeman Craig and moved to San Francisco. The partnership flourished for 3 years and when he established himself within his area of expertise, Scandinavian coins and Islamic coins and currency. In 1977, he returned to San Diego and has been running his mail order business ever since.
He is 53 and was born in San Diego. He has two children, Chris 18 and Juliette 13. He is a member of the ANA, NI, ONS, AINA and was a member of IAPN for 15 years while traveling extensively in Europe. He is a contributor to virtually all of the Krause standard catalogs, and to the Friedberg gold catalog. He is currently recognized as the leading expert in modern Islamic coins and banknotes, but has dealt with virtually every post -Renaissance coinage.
