Latest Heritage Amazing Comics Auction™ Internet 13101
Dallas, TX - Heritage’s Amazing Comics Auction™ (ACA) sale #13101 ended Sunday, October 5, with 1,255 lots offered. 562 bidders placed bids, and 298 of them were successful, for a total sell-through of $105,764.30 for 1,200 lots (95.61% of lots offered). 4 after-auction lots were purchased by 3 bidders, for a total of $925.75.A few highlights from the 10/05/03 ACA sale are:
Prize Comics #5 Mile High pedigree (Prize, 1940) CGC NM+ 9.6 White pages. Outstanding split level cover featuring: Buck Brady, Power Nelson, Dr Dekkar, The Black Owl, and Storm Curtis-Ted O Neil. You are looking at the highest-graded copy yet certified by CGC for this issue. It's hard to belive this comic is sixty-three years old! Overstreet 2003 NM 9.4 value = $975. Realized $3,220.00
The Human Torch #6 (Timely, 1942) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Cream to off-white pages. Alex Schomburg breaks out the hooded baddies, bondage, and the "Doom Dungeon", devices we just never tire of when it comes to great Golden Age Timely covers. To date, this is the highest CGC-graded unrestored copy of this issue. Overstreet 2003 VF/NM 9.0 value = $1,928; NM 9.4 value = $2,500. Realized $2,702.50
Cyclone Comics #2 Mile High pedigree (Bilbara, 1940) CGC NM- 9.2 White pages. A rich multi-colored cover invites the reader into this adventure anthology with features such as Tornado Tom, the Human Whirlwind, Volton the Human Generator, Nick Nelson of the Navy, Red Knight (Crusade Adventure), Kingdom of the Moon, and many others. This Golden Age delight has it all -- a unique addition to your collection! But, this one is from the famed Mile High pedigree and, as you would expect, is in stellar shape. It's the best copy of this issue CGC has seen. Don't overlook this gem from 1940. Overstreet 2003 NM 9.4 value = $900. Realized $2,127.50
Captain America Comics #7 (Timely, 1941) CGC FN 6.0 Light tan to off-white pages. This issue features a classic bondage cover and an appearance by Red Skull. Art by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Overstreet 2003 FN 6.0 value = $1,779. Realized $1,667.50
John Buscema and Ernie Chan - Original Art Splash Page for Conan the Barbarian #72, page 1 (Marvel, 1977). Utterly spectacular title splash page as Conan and Belit board a Shemite merchant vessel. Buscema's powerful layouts are rendered sharp and supple by Chan's textured inks. 10.5" x 16", excellent condition, with minimal white-out, some blue-pencil markings, especially in the title lettering. Realized $1,552.50
The Human Torch #23 (Timely, 1946) CGC VF+ 8.5 Off-white pages. Classic robot cover by Alex Schomburg. Overstreet 2003 VF 8.0 value = $788; VF/NM 9.0 value = $1,119. Realized $1,437.50
