Latest Heritage Amazing Comics Auction™ Internet 13102

Dallas, TX - Heritage’s Amazing Comics Auction™ (ACA) sale #13102 ended Sunday, October 19, with 964 lots offered. 562 bidders placed bids, and 302 of them were successful, for a total sell-through of $91,932.15 for 896 lots (92.94% of lots offered). 4 after-auction lots were purchased by 1 bidder, for a total of $332.30.

A few highlights from the 10/19/03 ACA sale are:

All Winners Comics #1 (Timely, 1941) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Off-white pages. Alex Schomburg art. The Angel and Black Marvel's only appearance. Captain America by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Human Torch and Sub-Mariner begin. First appearance of All Winners Squad in text story by Stan Lee. Only four copies of this issue have earned a higher grade from CGC to date. Overstreet 2003 FN 6.0 value = $5,400; VF 8.0 value = $13,500. Realized $8,050.00

Amazing Spider-Man #15 (Marvel, 1964) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white pages. Steve Ditko cover and art. First appearance of Kraven the Hunter. First mention of Mary Jane Watson. Only two copies of this issue have earned a higher grade from CGC to date. Overstreet 2003 NM 9.4 value = $1,050. Realized $3,795.00

Frank Frazetta - Original Illustration, Fallen Gladiator (undated). Exquisite pen-and-ink sketch of a fallen gladiator and the victor who lords over him. If you're looking for a small-scale Frazetta, this could just be the one for you. 3" x 4.5". Provenance: The Alexander Gallery. Realized $1,782.50

Robert Crumb - Original Illustration "Cream Cheese Smear" (1993). In 1993, gallery owner Alex Acevedo mounted a show of Robert Crumb artwork, and asked the artist to write "something" for the exhibition. Crumb's response was this couple of paragraphs and accompanying sketch ("Stage Door Deli, Lexington Ave., next to the Barbizon Hotel."), all of which appear to have been rendered on a paper placemat! An exceptional bit of Crumb history. Roughly 9.5" x 13.5". Realized $1,725.00

Ross Andru and Frank Giacoia - Original Art for The Amazing Spider-Man #142 (Marvel, 1975). Mysterio has pulled this trick on Spider-Man once before, but our favorite Wall-Crawler won't be fooled again! This spectacular action page is from the prime of Ross Andru's popular run on the series, and you couldn't ask for a better representation of the period. This is vintage Andru all the way, and pages from this era have been in high demand of late. Better snatch this one up while you have the chance! 10.5" x 16", excellent condition overall with light-to-moderate white-out. Although David Hunt provided background inks on some pages of this issue, we believe this page is all Giacoia. Realized $1,380.00

Frank Frazetta - Original Illustration, Two Women (undated). Two zaftig but exquisitely lovely ladies, rendered by the master of lovely ladies, Frank Frazetta. 8" x 4". Provenance: The Alexander Gallery. Realized $1,265.00

Amazing Fantasy #15 (Marvel, 1962) Condition: FR/GD. First appearance and origin of Spider-Man by Steve Ditko. Overstreet 2003 GD 2.0 value = $1,263. Realized $1,207.50
