Latest Heritage Amazing Comics Auction™ Internet 13122
Dallas, TX - Heritage’s Amazing Comics Auction™ (ACA) sale #13122 ended Sunday, December 21, with 898 lots offered. 540 bidders placed bids, and 269 of them were successful, for a total sell-through of $99,087.30 for 872 lots (97.10% of lots offered). 5 after-auction lots were purchased by 4 bidders, for a total of $1,223.50
A few highlights from the 12/21/03 ACA sale are:
Superman #1 (DC, 1939) CGC Apparent VF- 7.5 Moderate (P) Off-white pages. Historic first issue. Origin Superman. Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster art. CGC notes, "Restoration include: color touch, pieces added, cleaned, reinforced." Overstreet 2003 GD 2.0 value = $16,000; VG 4.0 value = $32,000; FN 6.0 value = $48,000; VF 8.0 value = $120,000. Realized $15,525.00
Amazing Spider-Man #6 (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white to white pages. First appearance of the Lizard. Steve Ditko cover and art. Overstreet 2003 NM 9.4 value = $2,300. Realized $3,220.00
Al Williamson and Angelo Torres - Original Art for Double-Dare Adventures #2, Complete 5-page Story, "The Secret of the Mountain" (Harvey, 1967). Penciler Al Williamson and inker Angelo Torres unlock a mystery of a land buried beneath the ocean for millions of years in this lushly illustrated five page story. Measures 15" x 22" with a 12" x 18" image area. In excellent condition. Realized $2,472.50
Keen Detective Funnies V2#8 Mile High pedigree (Centaur, 1939) CGC VF/NM 9.0 White pages. Featuring the Masked Marvel, Dean Denton, Master Mind, and others. Artists include Ben Thompson, Gill Fox, and Terry Gilkison. Overstreet notes "Nudist ranch panel with four girls." Wow! Hailing from the legendary collection of Edgar Church, this Mile High beauty must rank among the best existing copies of this issue. To date, this is the only CGC-graded copy of this issue, a testiment to the scarcity of this comic in any grade. Overstreet 2003 VF/NM 9.0 value = $753; NM 9.4 value = $975. Realized $2,127.50
Lone Ranger Comics #1 (Lone Ranger Inc., 1939) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Cream to off-white pages. First Western comic book devoted to a single character. This book was available via mail order. Overstreet lists this comic as "scarce." Only one other copy of issue #1 has received a higher grade from CGC to date. Overstreet 2003 VG 4.0 value = $1,961; FN 6.0 value = $3,000. Realized $1,897.50
Fantastic Four #48 (Marvel, 1966) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages. Partial origin and first appearance of the Silver Surfer and Galactus. Stan Lee story. Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott art. Impressive copy. Overstreet 2003 NM 9.4 value = $1,350. Realized $1,840.00
