Expanded Heritage Signature Sale Catalogs Now Available on Interactive-capable CD-ROM
Dallas, Texas: Heritage Numismatic Auctions has announced still another "first" for their Signature auctions. The Interactive CatalogDisk,? which made its debut with the May 2000 Central States Signature Sale, is a complete catalog prepared on CD-ROM. As numismatic literature specialist Karl Moulton has pointed out, "This ranks in importance right alongside the 1869 MacKenzie sale by Edward Cogan, which was the very first plated catalogue in this country.""When Heritage began posting auctions for interactive bidding on www.HeritageCoin.com in early 1999," noted HNAI Director Bob Korver, "we received extremely positive feedback from our customers. Especially appreciated were the full-color photographs for nearly every lot, a benefit that is absolutely cost-prohibitive in a printed catalog. There was one small drawback, however - the length of time it took users without high-speed Internet connections to download the images."
"Heritage's CatalogDisk?," continued Heritage COO Paul Minshull, "contains the same information as our online Internet catalogs, both text and images, and in the same format. With the CD, bidders avoid all downloading time, reading and viewing every lot instantly, whether off-line or on-line. Off-line, the CatalogDisk? can be taken anywhere; on-line, our bidders can enter their Interactive Internet? bids directly into our website. This really is the best of both worlds!
CatalogDisks? are available for sale at $10 each, or $25 for an annual subscription. For an annual fee of $85, customers can receive all of Heritage's catalogs, both printed and CD versions.
"Future CatalogDisks?, concluded Korver, "will also include expanded archival information of prices realized from previous Heritage auction. We intend to make our CDs an indispensable numismatic resource. Heritage has a long tradition of making technological innovations to attract higher bidding. Along with the first CatalogDisk?, Heritage was the first to project full-color coin images during our public sessions; the first to provide previous auction prices realized records online; the first to host a live numismatic auction over the Internet; the first to post full-color, enlargable images of single-lots online; and the first to integrate online Interactive Internet bidding with public sessions. And we have a lot more in store for our clients during the next year!"
Customer reception to the CatalogDisk? has been enthusiastic:
- "The May 2000 Central States Numismatic Society sale will forever be known as a significant milestone in numismatic literature."
- "I just got your CD for the CSNS auction, and I wanted to let you know it is FANTASTIC!"
- "Your Central States Signature auction catalog on a disk was outstanding."
- "Hard to pick the best feature of the CD, certainly the photos and particularly the previous sales price info."
