Early Comic Strip Art Will Sell for More Than "Peanuts"

Dallas, Texas: Heritage Comics Auctions (HCA) will offer a wonderful early original Peanuts daily in their first auction of 2005, to be held February 9 & 10 in their Dallas, Texas offices.

"This is one of the earliest original Peanuts strips to come to market," said Ed Jaster, HCA's Director of Acquisitions, " and one of the nicest that I've ever seen."

Dated 10-31-51 and hailing from the strip's second year in syndication, this piece features Schulz's early version of Charlie Brown, distinguishable by his oversized head and smaller feet, and the earliest, "puppy-like" version of Snoopy. Patty, one of the strip's first supporting characters, also makes an appearance.

"We sold a slightly earlier daily in October, 2004," continued Jaster. "This strip, dated 9-1-51, sold for $16,675. However, this earlier piece featured Shermy and Snoopy, without Charlie Brown. I'm confident that the piece offered in our February auction will fetch an even stronger price."
