Heritage Galleries Posts Record Results for 2004!

Dallas, Texas: Heritage Numismatics Auctions, Inc. (HNAI) and Currency Auctions of America (CAA) reported $164,700,025 in coin and currency auction net sales for 2004, making it the leading coin and currency auctioneer, by a wide margin, for the fourth year in a row. This figure represents a 52.4% increase over last year's sales of $108,091,822, and sets a new record for numismatic auction sales in a single year.

"This was a dynamic year for the world of collectibles," said Steve Ivy, Heritage Co-Chairman and President of the Professional Numismatists Guild. "Even with a presidential election and increasingly unstable world events, both factors that have traditionally had a negative impact on collectibles in general, the markets stayed healthy and robust throughout. The coin market is about as hot now as it's ever been, and prices are strong in all areas. More and more people are seeing the wisdom in keeping a certain amount of their portfolio in tangible assets, making the concept of collectibles in general even more attractive. In addition, the increased visibility and popularity of third party grading has made it much easier for people to get into markets that previously might have proved too intimidating for the new collector."

All numbers include Heritage's 15% Buyers Premium, but do not include direct private treaty sales, which were slightly over $135 million additionally. These auction figures only include those items that actually met reserve and do not include consignor buy-backs.

Heritage continued to hold onto its position as the World's Largest Collectibles Auctioneer with strong sales in other collectible areas as well.

"2004 was a year of strong growth for us," said Heritage Co-Chairman Jim Halperin. "With the acquisition of Slater's Americana and Slater's Provenance Auctions in August, we've added Political Memorabilia and Americana to our growing family of disciplines. We also acquired Odyssey Auctions in March, and have since become one of the leaders in Music and Entertainment auctions. In 2005, we're looking to grow into several other collectible areas, in order to bring even greater diversity to our ever-expanding customer base."

Total net sales for 2004 totaled $186,481,822, a 50.7% increase over 2003's total net sales of $123,680,304. Breakdown by company is as follows:
