Press Release - February 4, 2005

The Bride of Frankenstein Returns to Heritage!

Dallas, Texas: Heritage Vintage Movie Posters (HVMP) will offer one of only five known copies of the Bride of Frankenstein half-sheet, a cornerstone piece from the collection of rock legend Johnny Ramone, in their upcoming Signature Auction to be held March 17 & 18 in Dallas, Texas.

"Paper from the classic Universal horror films is incredibly scarce and desirable," said Grey Smith, Director of HVMP. "Posters from these films rarely surface, and when they do, they bring record prices."

A record price was set in HVMP's last Signature Auction (November, 2004), when a Bride of Frankenstein title card sold for an astounding $46,000. "That was a record price for any title card," said Smith, "and we've submitted a claim to Guinness World Records for it. Hot on the heels of that sale, I'm excited to see what this half-sheet will bring."

"This half sheet, which has a pre-sale estimate of $50,000-$75,000" Smith continued, "is in beautiful condition. Two of the existing five known copies have had their borders replaced, but this copy is wonderfully intact. It features a great shot of Boris Karloff as the monster, and Elsa Lancaster as his bride, as well as pictures of Colin Clive as Dr. Henry Frankenstein and Valerie Hobson as Elizabeth, Henry's wife. This half-sheet will make some fortunate collector very happy!"
