Heritage Reports Best Long Beach Sale Ever!

Dallas, Texas: Heritage Numismatic Auctions, Inc. (HNAI) held their latest auction on February 23-26, in Long Beach, California, as official auctioneer of the Long Beach Coin Expo. 3,758 bidders competed for 6,270 lots, 1,130 of them successfully. The Signature auction realized $17,244,931.20 for 5,194 lots sold (82.83% of the total) so far. And with Post Auction Buys and Bullet Auction results added, the total is expected to climb to well above $18 million.

"2005 is already proving to be our best year ever," enthused Greg Rohan, President of HNAI, "with one strong sale following another. Between our record-setting $61 million FUN auction in January, a $12 million Currency auction earlier this month, and our Palm Beach numismatic auction just around the corner in March, we're on track to report over $100 million of coin and currency auction sales during the first quarter of this year."

Included in the Long Beach auction was the collection of Bruce Scher, which featured no less than eight different All-Time #1 PCGS Registry Sets, the Beverly Hills Collection, an assortment of legendary rarities which had been off the market for more than thirty years, and the The Volker Dube Collection, one of the finest sets of business strike Morgan Dollars assembled in recent years.

• 1879 $4 Flowing Hair, Judd-1635, Pollock-1832, 1833, R.3, 6, PR63 NGC. REALIZED: $115,000.
• 1854-S $2 1/2 VF25 NGC. REALIZED: $97,750.
• 1892 $20 PR65 Ultra Cameo NGC. REALIZED: $89,125.
• 1853 50C Arrows and Rays PR65 NGC. REALIZED: $86,250.
• 1798/97 10C 13 Stars on Reverse MS62 PCGS. REALIZED: $83,375.
• 1936 50C PR68 PCGS. REALIZED: $80,500.
• 1914-S $5 MS65 NGC. REALIZED: $80,500.
• 1900 $1 Lafayette Dollar MS67 PCGS. REALIZED: $71,875.
