Heritage Internet Currency Auction Results #35032

Dallas, Texas: Heritage's 818-lot Internet CurrencyAuction.com auction #35032 which closed Wednesday night, March 30, sold 680 lots (83.12% of lots offered). Total sales were $82,358.40. With 464 bidders participating, 233 were successful.

Every single-item lot includes full-color enlargeable images of the obverse and reverse, to help bidders determine their bids with confidence.

Below are some of the highlights from the March 30 CurrencyAuction.com auction:

Fr. 2064-B* $20 1950E Federal Reserve Note. Superb Gem New.
This is singlehandedly the nicest example of the 1950E star notes that this cataloger has had the pleasure of handling. The margins are gigantic on all sides with an extra wide left margin for good measure. The ink colors are bright and colorful with four sharp corners and crackling fresh paper surfaces. This is a highly sought after note even in higher circulated grades but for a note of this ultimate quality to come along is truly a find as it is unlikely that a nicer example could possibly exist. With a scant printing of 720,000 this star is listed in Oakes at $750 in CU but that is unlikely to even elicit a fourth or fifth place bid by the time the final hammer falls. We would not be at all surprised to see this note end up in a third party holder sooner or later with a very high grade on the label. REALIZED: $3,450.

Fr. 1178 $20 1882 Gold Certificate Very Fine-Extremely Fine. This nicely margined example has good color on both sides and excellent eye appeal. At first glance, it has the look of a higher grade. Notes like this one are always in much demand by type collectors. REALIZED: $1,955.

Fr. 263 $5 1886 Silver Certificate Extremely Fine. If you want a note just to show the classic Silver Dollar Back, this is the note for you. This lightly circulated $5 Silver has three spots of dried glue on the face, plus some minute pinholes. REALIZED: $1,381.15.

Fr. 349 $1 1890 Treasury Note Very Fine. As a class, Ornate Back Stantons are much scarcer by over two to one than their Open Back counterparts. This Ornate Back has nice color and margins. REALIZED: $1,207.50.

Fr. 1215 $100 1922 Gold Certificate Very Fine. As the collector base grows, better Friedberg numbers are becoming scarcer in the marketplace, as is the case for $100 Bentons. REALIZED: $1,150.

CurrencyAuction.com auctions close (and a new auction begins) at 10pm CT on the 15th and 30th day of every month.
