Heritage Presents Signature Auction in St. Louis!

Dallas, Texas: Heritage Numismatic Auctions, Inc (HNAI) will hold its upcoming Signature Auction May 4-7 in St. Louis, MO as Official Auctioneer of the Central States Numismatic Society convention.

"One of the great highlights of this auction is the fourth part of the Richard J. Chouinard Collection," said Greg Rohan, President of HNAI. "Mr. Chouinard began collecting coins at the age of six, and quickly built a numismatic network consisting of the local milkman, coffee grinder, druggist, baker and iceman all looking for old coins for him. His number of friends has only grown since then in the intervening 65 years, as has his incredible collection."

Highlights of the Richard J. Chouinard Collection, Part Four:

"Another exciting aspect of this auction is the inclusion of the Tim Cook Registry Collection of Liberty Seated Dimes," said Rohan, "currently ranked on the PCGS Registry (Liberty Seated Dimes with Varieties, Circulation Strikes; 1837-1891) as the #2 All-Time Finest and the #2 Current Finest. Dr. Cook began collecting coins at the age of eight when his Dad gave him his first Whitman folder, containing a few Wheat Cents. From there, his passion for collecting grew, and, after starting his OB/GYN practice in Warsaw, Indiana, he began to seriously pursue Seated Dimes through his contacts with private collectors and specializing dealers. It's an honor to include this magnificent collection in our auction."

"The Gary Kramer Registry Collection of Washington Quarters is another feature of this auction," Rohan continued. "Like so many other collectors, Gary Kramer's half-century of interest goes back to his teen years. He started collecting coins at the age of fifteen, starting with the albums for the cents and nickels that he could afford. Ten years ago, he began to focus on Washington Quarters, and since then has been adding and upgrading constantly as nicer specimens came on the market."

Highlights of the Gary Kramer Registry Collection of Washington Quarters include:

"The Tom Mershon #2 All-Time Registry Collection of Lincoln Wheat Cents is another important part of our Central States auction," said Rohan. "Tom Mershon's Collection of Lincoln Cents is the finest to ever be auctioned. It is currently ranked on the PCGS Registry (Lincoln Cents Basic Set, Circulation Strikes; 1909-1958) as the #2 All-Time Finest and the #2 Current Finest. It is also the #2 All-Time Finest and the #2 Current Finest Lincoln Cents with Varieties, Circulation Strikes (1909-1958) Registry set. We're excited to bring this outstanding collection to market."

"Another anchor consignment in this auction is The Milwaukee Shore Collection of Morgan Dollars," Rohan continued, "assembled by a collector with a very discerning eye, who carefully chose his coins. While pursuing this virtually complete collection, he consistently selected only premium quality examples for the grade that met his standards for lustrous white frosty coins. Most of the coins were purchased between 1988 and 1992, and are being auctioned in their old PCGS "Green Label" holders. Morgan collectors will be very impressed with the outstanding quality of each of the coins offered in this fine collection."

Highlights of The Milwaukee Shore Collection of Morgan Dollars include:

"Last but certainly not least," said Rohan, "is Part Four of the Larry Rausch Collection, another exciting group of significant nineteenth and twentieth century error coins. Mr. Rausch started collecting at the age of ten, in 1958. His father was a vest pocket dealer during the 1960s, and as might be expected of the times, invested heavily in rolls - many of which Mr. Rausch still holds. Every week he searched $50 in cents gathered from parking meters, with several finds significant enough to be mentioned in Coin World. Through his high school years, he accompanied his father to many small shows in the Midwest. He noted the occasional error at these shows, and his collection started when he traded with his father for a group of 31 Liberty Seated Dime errors (purchased for $34.10 from a collector, and which he still owns today!). The collection is a spectacular achievement, amassed over a lifetime."
