Here are just a few of the highlights sold in the May 9 Bullet Auction:
An 1876 Proof Set NGC. The set includes: Cent PR64 Red and Brown; Three Cent Nickel PR65 Cameo; 1876 Nickel PR64 Cameo; Dime PR63; Twenty Cent Piece PR64; Quarter PR64; Half Dollar PR62, Type One Reverse; Trade Dollar PR62, Type One Obverse, Type Two Reverse.(#2316) (Registry values: N991) REALIZED: $7,475.
1878-CC $5--Rotated Dies--Damaged--ANACS. AU Details, Net XF40. The dies are rotated 180 degrees, and the coin was struck in a medal-like fashion. The obverse rim is bruised from 7 to 9 o'clock, and a vertical scratch extends through the lower part of Liberty's hair.(#8346) (Registry values: P3) REALIZED: $5,175.
1872 25C Washington Octagonal 25 Cents, BG-723, Low R.6, MS61 NGC. Large date, berries on wreath. Bright yellow-gold surfaces display prooflike fields. The devices are well struck, though the lower right (facing) star center is weak. Some wispy handling marks are noted on each side.(#10550) REALIZED: $2,990.
1909 $20 MS63 ANACS. Boldly struck with even, near-full satiny luster and even, light orange-gold color. A seemingly appropriate number of minor bagmarks reside on the bright, pleasing surfaces, for the assigned grade. The 1909 is a scarce, low mintage issue which is offered infrequently at or above the current grade level.(#9150) (Registry values: N2998) REALIZED: $2,300.
1872 10C MS63 PCGS. Fortin-105. One of the most unusual doubled dies in U.S. numismatics, the reverse is strongly die doubled but with a 175 degree rotation. Apparently the initial hubbing had the dies with close to medal alignment. Evidence of the initial hubbing is most prominent southeast of the E in DIME. Lustrous and lightly toned. Undoubtedly a very rare variety in Mint State. From The Tim Cook Registry Collection of Liberty Seated Dimes.(#4656) (Registry values: N491) REALIZED: $2,300.
