Early Returns from Heritage Long Beach Auction Show Strong Results!
DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Numismatic Auctions, Inc (HNAI) has held the first two sessions of its current Signature Auction in Long Beach, California, as official auctioneer of the Long Beach Coin Expo, with extremely strong results.
"It's too early to forecast the eventual outcome of this auction," said Jim Halperin, co-chairman of HNAI, "but the results so far are impressive. With only half the auction presented, and a separate Bullet auction and an exciting World Coin auction still to be considered, this auction has realized well over $5 million so far, and is still going strong."
"Two coins in the auction's second session were particular standouts," said Halperin. "The 1794 $1 MS61 NGC from the Bass collection realized $747,500, while the 1838-O 50C Capped Bust, Reeded Edge. PR64 BM PCGS, among the most famous of all American coinage rarities, brought $632,500, both well over their initial estimates."
"One of the factors involved in the robust prices realized we're seeing in this and other auctions is the strong presence of Internet bidders," Halperin added. "In fact, in this current auction, over half of the auction sold to on-line bidders."
An additional press release, with full details and prices realized for all Heritage's Long Beach auctions, will be issued early next week.
Images, descriptions, and prices realized from all of Heritage's previous sales are available in the Permanent Auction Archives at the Heritage website.
