Heritage Presents Signature Auction in New York City!
DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Numismatic Auctions, Inc (HNAI) will hold its upcoming Signature Auction June 29-30 in New York City at the Grand Hyatt Hotel located at 42nd Street and Park Avenue.
"It's always a pleasure to hold an auction in the Big Apple," said Greg Rohan, President of HNAI. "New York has always been very good to us, and we're looking forward to this exciting event."
"There are several important anchor consignments in this auction," said Rohan, "including the first part of the Stig Ericsson Collection. Mr. Ericsson began collecting coins about fifty years ago, pulling Indian Cents out of circulation as a youth. Like so many numismatists, he then tried to complete the modern series out of circulation. Standing Liberty Quarters were his favorite, as he appreciated the design. As his sophistication and numismatic appetite grew, he began to buy more important rarities, and became more eclectic and selective in his collecting. Mr. Ericsson is also selling some of his world coin holdings in a future HWCA Signature Auction. While he collected eye-appealing specimens from around the world, he specialized in the coins of Scandinavia, with which he felt a special bond due to his family roots."
"We're also offering the second part of the Empire State Collection," said Rohan. The consignor started collecting coins as a very young man, focusing on, in his words, 'the usual cents, nickel, and dime folders that we all were busy filling.' He took a 20-year hiatus from collecting after getting married, but then became a much more dedicated numismatist. For the last quarter century, he has been pursuing rarities, often trying to complete mintmarked type sets."
"In addition to the coins we're offering in this auction," Rohan added, "we'll also be previewing several collections we'll be auctioning in upcoming events, including the Philip H. Morse Collection of St. Gaudens Coinage and the Jules Reiver Collection, both of which will be auctioned by HNAI in November, 2005. These are both very important collections that will certainly generate a great deal of excitement in the numismatic community."
