Heritage Presents the Greatest Comic Auction Ever!
DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Comics Auctions (HCA) will hold their latest auction of rare and collectible comic books, original comic art and related memorabilia on August 12-13, 2005, in their Dallas, Texas headquarters.
"This is one of the finest auctions we've ever held," said Ed Jaster, Director of Acquisitions for HCA, "with probably the best selection of CGC-graded comics we've offered since the Nicolas Cage Collection in October, 2002, including some spectacular 'firsts'. This not-to-be-missed event features such rare treasures as a copy of The Amazing Spider-Man #1, CGC-graded NM+ 9.6 with off-white pages, a beautiful book that simply has to be seen to be believed. Another great find is our copy of Batman #1, CGC-graded VF- 7.5 with off-white pages, one of the finest copies known to exist of this great key book. As if that weren't enough, bidders will also have a chance to compete for a lovely copy of Showcase #4, the origin and first appearance of the Silver Age Flash, CGC-graded VF 8.0 with off-white pages as well as the Rockford copy of Daredevil Comics #1, better known as Daredevil Battles Hitler, CGC-graded VF+ 8.5 with cream to off-white pages. And no one will want to miss the Denver copy of Marvel Comics #1, CGC-graded VF+ 8.5 with off-white pages. It's sure to set this auction on fire!"
"We've also managed to assemble an offering of original art that is sure to tempt even the most jaded collector," Jaster said. "We're very proud to offer the original cover art to Batman #11, by artists Fred Ray and Jerry Robinson. Not only is this one of the oldest Batman covers known to exist, it's also a classic Joker cover in excellent condition. Alongside that marvelous piece, we're also offering two classic early Action covers, both by Fred Ray and both featuring the Last Son of Krypton. The cover for Action #45 shows Superman manhandling two crooks, while the cover for Action #51 not only shows The Man of Steel breaking through a brick wall, it's also the first-ever appearance of the Prankster! We also have a wonderful Peanuts Sunday by Charles Schulz dated 10-24-54, this one featuring an early use of the term "security blanket," and a fabulous Krazy Kat original by George Herriman. that could easily hang in the finest museum collection. To top it all off, we've even got the original art for the very first appearance of Marge Buell's Little Lulu, courtesy of the famed Random House Archives. This is the single panel gag that ran in the Saturday Evening Post on February 23,1935, introducing Marge's curly-haired imp to the world."
"Of course, these few highlights barely scratch the surface of this incredible auction," Jaster added. "I'd invite everyone to check out our website at HeritageComics.com to see everything else we're offering in this once-in-a-lifetime event. Believe me, you won't be disappointed."
