Heritage Acquires Good Rockin' Tonight!
DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers (HGA) announced recently that they had acquired the assets of Good Rockin' Tonight (GRT), the world's premiere rare record auction house, and will include a significant offering of those assets in their upcoming Music & Entertainment auctions.
"Good Rockin' Tonight is no longer holding auctions, as our parent company has decided to stick with grading and authenticating collectibles and not selling them," said Gordon Wrubel, one of the principals of Good Rockin' Tonight. "We didn't want to just abandon GRT and all of our good customers, so we looked for an appropriate home for the GRT rare record auction concept. We immediately called our friends at Heritage Galleries and asked them if they would take over Good Rockin' Tonight and continue this important tradition. Fortunately they were as excited about the idea as we were."
"This is an extraordinary opportunity for Heritage," said Doug Norwine, Director of Music & Entertainment Auctions. "I've been a big fan of Good Rockin' Tonight for years, so I was thrilled when I heard about this acquisition. This gives Heritage the opportunity to really embrace the rare record market in a whole new way."
The initial offerings from the Good Rockin' Tonight Collection will be included in Heritage's upcoming Music & Entertainment auction, to be held October 8 in Dallas, Texas.
"In the upcoming October auction we'll be offering over 500 collectible 45 records, the majority of which are from the '50s and early '60s," said Norwine. "Lots of promos, original pressings on small labels, various colored vinyl variations, and other rarities, 90% or more of which are in Near Mint condition or better. Included are the ultra rare commercial and promotional copies of the Beatles' first American label release, 'My Bonnie' on MGM and other rare Beatles 45s. We also have two of the rarest Beatles LPs, the ad-back cover variation of Vee-Jay's 'Introducing the Beatles' in stereo, and a stereo copy of the portrait cover variation of 'The Beatles & Frank Ifield.'"
"This is only the beginning," Norwine said. "We'll be offering more of this spectacular collection in future auctions, so vinyl enthusiasts will want to visit HeritageGalleries.com on a regular basis."
