2000-P 1C Lincoln Cent -- Struck onto 2000-P New Hampshire Quarter -- MS65 PCGS.
The cent strike is rotated 180 degrees from the quarter dollar strike, and it is slightly off center toward 4 o'clock. Both sides display silver luster and satiny surfaces, with no distracting abrasions. Faint remnants of the Washington portrait are visible throughout the fields of the cent strike. The mintmark on the quarter remains visible.

| Lot: 91146 | Apr 15, 2021
Sold For:
$13,200.00
1999-P SBA$ error Susan B. Anthony Dollar--Struck on a Sacagawea Dollar Planchet--MS66 PCGS.
A splendidly preserved error that has booming cartwheel luster. The bright lemon-gold surfaces have an occasional blush of mauve color. Both Anthony and Sacagawea Dollars were struck in 1999, and this wrong planchet error will always be a difficult combination to collect since the Anthony design is now obsolete. Interestingly, both sides are softly struck, although the types are certainly clear. Perhaps the press was in the process of starting up or shutting down when this error was minted.

2000-P $1 error Sacagawea--Struck on a Susan B. Anthony Planchet--MS68 PCGS.
Here's a Sacagawea Dollar that the Mint could not honestly promote as "Golden." It was struck on a planchet intended for a 1999-dated Anthony Dollar. Presumably, this piece was struck in the later half of 1999. This moderately prooflike piece has light honey-gold and silver-gray patina. Razor-sharp and nearly pristine. A spindly die crack (as made) traverses the bridge of Sacagawea's nose, a secondary but interesting mint error. While not as famous as the 1943-dated Bronze Cents, this transitional wrong-planchet combination is nonetheless fascinating.

2000-P $1 Sacagawea Dollar--Struck on an Anthony Dollar Planchet--MS67 PCGS.
The Anthony dollar was last issued in 1999, but 2000-P Sacagawea dollars were also struck in 1999, to be available for a promotional launch in early 2000. Since Anthony dollars and Sacagawea dollars have similar diameters, it is not surprising that the present piece is well struck. The planchet must have been carefully prepared, since most Uncirculated Sacagawea dollars display planchet abrasions, but not this lustrous and smooth example. Light cream-gray toning is noted, as are minor marks on the reverse rim near 8 o'clock.

2000-P $1 Sacagawea Dollar -- Struck on 25C Planchet -- MS68 PCGS.
Struck in collar and perfectly preserved, with frosty silver luster and sharp devices. Eye appeal is exceptional. The quarter planchet is nearly as large as the dollar dies, resulting in a partially defined rim with a tapered slope down into the field around each circumference. Wrong-planchet errors rarely look this perfect.
From The Errorpalooza Collection.

1943-P 5C Jefferson Nickel -- Struck on Copper-Nickel Planchet -- XF40 PCGS.
All Jefferson nickels struck in 1943 were supposed to be issued on silver alloy planchets to conserve copper and nickel for the war effort. However, a few leftover copper-nickel planchets from 1942 were inadvertently fed into presses in 1943. This is distinctive from its silver-alloy counterparts due to its patina, which retains a pleasing olive-gray hue as opposed to the typically dark appearance of "war nickels."

2000-P SAC$1 -- Struck on a Quarter Planchet -- MS67 NGC.
5.6 grams. Radiant, brilliant luster illuminates unabraded surfaces on this piece, with sharp central devices and strong cartwheel bands on each side. The rims are not fully defined, as is the byproduct of the smaller quarter planchet. The strike is well centered.

1999-P 25C New Jersey Quarter -- Struck on an Experimental Planchet -- MS68 PCGS.
Manganese alloy planchets for the newfangled "golden" dollar apparently arrived at the Philadelphia Mint before their intended target, the Sacagawea dollar dies. Mint workers instead tested the planchets using statehood quarter dies. Only a handful of examples are known for each of the five statehood types. The present piece has raised rims, and the peripheral legends are normally struck, without the stretching often encountered on the experimental planchet strikes. The well struck apricot-gold surfaces are immaculate and semiprooflike. The flan is mildly granular throughout E PLURIBUS UNUM, as made.
