Progressive Up and Down Fancy Number Set. Choice Crisp Uncirculated or Better.
This set takes a number of 1 - 9 and starts the first serial number off with that number in the eighth position. The number is then duplicated through the digits until the penultimate position (the solid serial numbers are not present), and then the process is reversed. This set is not complete, but there are serial numbers 1 - 9 present. Almost all of the notes are $1 FRNs, but there are a few other FRNs of different denominations plus a few $1 Silvers residing within this striking set.

$1 Federal Reserve Note Three and Four-Digit Radar Collection - Part 1. Choice Crisp Uncirculated or Better.
This is the first lot of four to contain this collection of palindromes, that are also known as "radar notes" because the serial number reads the same forwards or backwards, just like the word "radar." Before its dispersal tonight, this collection held over 99% of the three and four-digit radar notes that are possible. Since you need duplication of the digits in order to build a palindrome, "radars" are known as one, two, three, or four-digit radars. The notes for this collection are from various series and blocks, and this portion contains serial numbers from 00122100 - 26199162.

$1 Federal Reserve Note 1963 - 2003 Block Collection. Choice Crisp Uncirculated or Better.
Here is an impressive collection of this specialty of collecting $1 FRNs by block, and that includes single notes for the blocks that were only issued in uncut form, plus the star issues. There are a few blocks missing that tends to lean to the later series, while a small amount of duplication is noticed. Very few of the notes are less than the assigned grade, but many rare blocks are contained within this massive offering. A few of these are: 1963 B-C, D-B; 1969 C* special late printing; 1981 J-D in Fine; 1981A K*; 1985 H*; 1988 F*; 1988A Web B-L in AU; and 1988A Web F*. The Webs are not broken down by run, but certainly a collection that will save the winning bidder much time, effort, and money, while providing a base from which to complete this set.

$1 Federal Reserve Note Label Sets 1988A, 1993, 1995. 168 Examples. About Uncirculated or Better.
The late 1980s saw the labels redesigned with bar codes added. Also, a "brick" of 4000 notes now consisted of four groupings of 1000 notes and each grouping was individually shrink-wrapped with a label attached that listed the first note in the grouping. So, presently a label set consists of the label and the first and last note for that particular grouping of 1000 notes. This first and/or last note can sometimes be a star note and at least a couple of those situations arise in this lot of 168 label sets. It is common to see edge handling on the notes that make up label sets.

The group offered here was recently discovered in a Hawaii safe deposit box along with a small group of Hawaii World War II issues. This lot consists of a letter dated August 19, 1942 authorizing one Elbert T. Kurashige to possess, under the Regulations Relating to Currency, the following notes, all of which are included with this lot: one 1914 FRN (grading VF+), one $2 1917 US Note (F-VF), one $2 1899 Silver Certificate (Fine), one $1 1899 Silver Certificate (Fine+), and one $1 1923 Silver Certificate (VF). The license was forwarded from the Executive Chambers in Honolulu, and is signed by J.B Poindexter, Governor of Hawaii. For years we have been writing about the requirements that residents of Hawaii turn in all non-Hawaii notes after emergency regulations were promulgated in early 1942, but this document is the first actual license to possess non-emergency currency we have ever seen or heard of. This is a priceless display item and any estimate for the letter and notes (all of which are listed in the letter) is but a guess, but if rarity and desirability are any guide, expect a realization in the area of...
