This first issue of Marvel's super-sized sword and sorcery magazine features artwork by John Buscema, Neal Adams, and Gil Kane, all under a bloody beautiful cover painting by Boris Vallejo. This sharp copy barely misses copping the highest grade yet certified by CGC for issue #1. Overstreet 2005 NM- 9.2 value = $120. CGC census 6/05: 25 in 9.6, 12 higher.

Easily one of the hottest young artists in the fantasy illustration field today, Alex Horley has taken the art world by storm over the last several years. With a style that is at once reminiscent of the classical masters and at the same time on the cutting edge of illustrative techniques, Horley brings a realism to his work that rates with the likes of Boris Vallejo, Joe Jusko, and the Brothers Hildebrandt. His work is in demand the world over, and rightfully so. Offered here is a beautiful painting of an angel who is obviously more than she seems. Rendered in rich, warm acrylic tones on a 16" x 20" board, the art is in excellent condition, and will certainly occupy an honored place in any collection.

In the mid-'60s Boris Vallejo arrived in New York from Lima, Peru, and was able to use his skills from his classical art training to develop an individual style of fantasy painting which combined the perfection of the human form with a healthy dose of eroticism. This painting epitomizes his indomitable style and incorporates elements of both science fiction and fantasy in a truly wonderful collage of color. The painting is in excellent condition with no fading,15 and measures 20" x 26".

A stunning example of the dynamic, photo-realistic style that Vallejo made famous, this piece perfectly captures the elegance and the power of Count Dracula, Lord of the Vampires! One can almost hear the music of the creatures of the night as the Count surveys his darkly-lit domain, with a beautiful woman at his feet in typical Boris state of undress. Measuring a big 27" x 17", this piece is rendered in oil on board, tastefully matted and framed, and is in excellent condition. It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner.
