Cancelled Comic Cavalcade #1 and 2 (DC, 1978).
These ashcan editions are perhaps the rarest collector's items of the Bronze Age. In the wake of the mass cancellation of titles which wags dubbed the "DC Implosion," the company produced these to protect DC's copyright to the content, printing a mere 35 copies. Of these, 34 were given to the creators and copyright people, and one to price guide publisher Bob Overstreet for documentation purposes. Containing pages photocopied on one side only with blank blue covers and a taped spine, the books each measure 8.5" x 11". Both volumes have hilarious, tongue-in-cheek "covers" on the respective title pages: the first, by Al Milgrom, shows a truck marked "DC" speeding away from a landfill, having dumped the bodies of dead superheroes. The second, by Alex Saviuk, shows second-tier heroes like Prez, the Creeper, and Shade the Changing Man applying for unemployment benefits. The contents of Volume #1 are

Cancelled Comic Cavalcade Vol. 1 and 2 (DC, 1978) Condition: VF.
In June, 1978, DC cancelled several of their titles. For copyright purposes, the unpublished original art for these titles was xeroxed, bound in the above books, published and distributed. Only 35 copies were made, which places these among the rarest books of the Bronze Age. Xeroxed pages on one side only with blank blue covers. The books each measure 8.5" by 11". This particular set originally belonged to DC's Vince Colletta, and a handwritten letter from Vince verifying the authenticity of these copies will be included with this lot. George Perez and Dick Giordano - Original Cover Art for Who's Who #3 (DC, 1985).
From the definite directory of the DC universe, comes this wrap-around cover to the third volume, which features DC characters from Black Lightning to Byth. Gentleman George Perez puts pencil to such characters as the Black Manta, Black Orchid, Blue Beetle, Bolt, Bouncing Boy, the Boy Commandos, Braniac, Brother Blood, and the Brotherhood of Evil. Dick Giordano's crisply dynamic inks bring this piece together. Lots of little details, which Perez is famous for, are here for your visual delight. The overall page size is 17" x 22.5" with an image area of 15" x 19.5". The art is clean, with some minimal white-out usage, and some slight wear on the extreme outside edges. There are also some pencil notes at the bottom and the bottom right side of the art. Includes the original logo and indicia paste-ups.

On the trail of Peter Gambi's kidnappers, Black Lightning battles a villain by the name of Syonide and his two flunkies, who, as an inside joke, have the powers of Power Man and Iron Fist. This cover, penciled by Rich Buckler and inked by Vince Colletta, has an image area of approximately 10" x 15". Includes all the original logo and masthead paste-ups. There is are a few tiny stains, a paste-up discoloration on the word balloon, and a blue pencil editorial marking, otherwise the art is in Excellent condition. Signed by Rick Bucker along the left edge.
