Stranger on the Third Floor (RKO, 1940).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). This film is credited by many film historians as being the first genuine
film noir
. It came along before the genre was even officially invented. In this story, a newspaper reporter sends an innocent man to the death house with his courtroom testimony. In the days that follow he becomes tortured by guilt and doubt, expertly portrayed by the film's surrealistic nightmare sequence. Peter Lorre's presence infiltrates the film even though he doesn't speak his first line of dialogue until the film's final ten minutes! There has been slight touchup done to light fold line wear and pinholes, otherwise the poster is in wonderful condition. Overlooked for many years, this film and poster have been recently elevated to the status of classic. Very Fine on Linen.

Anna Karenina (MGM, 1935).
Lobby Card (11" X 14"). What a daunting task Director Clarence Brown must have faced when first approached with the request to somehow cram 900 pages of complicated characterizations, dialogue, and plot twists into a mere 95 minutes on the silver screen. The famous ballroom scene in itself had to have provided a lifetime of logistical nightmares. We're talking 400 hundred pages of exposition put forth in one giant sequence where everyone's dancing. Garbo plays the the title character with Fredric March playing Vronsky, her illicit lover. This wasn't the first time Miss Garbo portrayed Anna Karenina. She played the same character opposite John Gilbert in the silent feature, "Love" (1927). The lobby is a radiant example of this MGM release. Very Fine.
