1960 George Harrison Letter From Hamburg- Incredible Content
This three page letter on lined paper is not dated but almost certainly written in September and October of 1960 at Hamburg, Germany. It is a funny, newsy letter from George to Arthur Kelly, his best buddy back in Liverpool, written using many interesting Scouse and slang terms. Arthur, by the way, holds a very important place in George's musical career. Harrison's mother bought George his first guitar when he was 13 which he taught himself to play. He formed, with his brother Pete and friend Arthur Kelly, his first band- a short-lived skiffle group called "The Rebels." The content of this letter is an absolute goldmine for the Beatle historian. For some background, the Beatles went to Hamburg on August 16, 1960 to play the Indra Club, a dive frequented by rowdy drunks. The Indra was not quite on the main Hamburg "drag" and they moved to the bigger and nicer Kaiserkeller Club down the street in early October. This important letter was written during this formative period in the Beatle's career.
The letter starts out (in ink): "Dear Archibald Lad, How are ye? I am playing many a rolling rock in Germanyingdaleboroughland, and have much gold. John-Paul+Stuart Deane (possibly a reference to Stuart Stucliffe's tendency to dress like James Dean?) are also having a luvly time too. We have Pete Best Mrs. Bests little lad with us from Kasbah fame and he is drumming good. His dad is a boxer in the Stadium." Pete Best had just joined the group. His mom owned the Casbah Club in Liverpool where the Beatles had visited. The letter goes on: "I can speak gut Germen now and we are staying here until Christ. and then we are going with a man to Berlin." George then inquires about Arthur's family and mentions that his mum is going to Canada to visit his sister (Louise). "We are earning 18 pounds a week now and after Chrimbo when we go to Berlin we will earn 60 marks a night [30 pounds a week]." In the next paragraph, George talks about T

The Beatles: Vintage Signed 1964 Pocket Calendar.
An excellent piece of Beatles memorabilia that time stamps the explosion of Beatlemania across the entire globe, offered here is an original Beatles 1964 photographic pocket calendar, hand signed by all four members down in Miami, Florida in February, 1964, their first trip to the United States! Measuring 2.5 x 5, this calendar -- a rarity in itself -- features twelve high quality glossy photographic images of the band and individual band members by renowned Beatles photographer, Dezo Hoffman. Signed in blue ballpoint pen by all four across two pages, "John Lennon xxx," is accomplished across the front of the November page featuring a nice solo image of Lennon. John's signature on calender is on the opposite side of Paul and George, so on the reverse blank side, McCartney and Harrison sign, "Paul McCartney xxx," and "George Harrison xxx." Lastly, Ringo Starr has signed in full across his solo image on the December page, with a full signature along the top of the image and a partial "R" at the bottom portion where Ringo had apparently begun to sign before opting for another spot. In fine condition.

Bruce Alonzo Goff (American, 1904-1982)
Five Glass Cullets from Shin'enKan
, 1956-1996
Salvaged glass
6-1/8 x 9-3/8 x 5-3/4 inches (15.6 x 23.8 x 14.6 cm) (largest)
PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF PRICE TOWER ARTS CENTER, BARTLESVILLE, OKLAHOMA
Shin'en Kan, which means "The House of the Far Away Heart," was avant-garde architect Bruce Goff's masterpiece, originally designed for Joe Price in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. An elaborate and perplexing exploration of tactility, Goff selected materials that ranged from plush and luxurious to bizarre and grotesque, including floors and walls covered in 4-inch thick white shag carpeting, ceilings lined with goose feathers, opulent beading cascading from the rafters, but also blood-smeared glass mosaics and décor made of turkey insemination rods. The living room was designed to be one large bed, with a sunken conversation pit placed in the middle, and there were secret passageways throughout the home. The walls were made of lumps of coal, with brilliant aquamarine glass cullets interspersed throughout. The resultant structure was whimsical and mesmerizing, but with an uncanny quality that seemed to suggest impending disaster. Perhaps turmoil was foreseen by Goff - he had no shortage in his personal life - and echoed in the structures he designed and built, as many have met their demise under suspicious circumstances, Shin'en Kan included. In 1996, after a long dispute over ownership, Shin'en Kan burned down. Officials believed this to be a case of arson, though no party was ever held accountable. Because the walls were coal, the complex was destroyed completely, with little else but the glass shards remaining. One was salvaged and used as part of Goff's headstone, and, perhaps because of his long association with Price Tower (the architect lived in an apartment there for nine years), Price Tower Arts Center took ownership of the entrance gate and some of the remaining cullets, which are offered here.

1967-76 Super Bowl One through Ten Programs Lot of 9.
Only Super Bowl VI is needed to complete the first decade's run of programs which we present here for the football historian interested in the roots of the game's greatest event. All the rest are here, complete and solidly bound, with only the special insert regarding illicit drugs in the Super Bowl IX issue coming loose from its staples. A few common Chiefs have signed a single interior page of the first game's program, but all the rest are unmarked in any fashion. We must also note some foxing of the page ends of the debut program. Typical edge wear must be noted throughout the collection, but a conservative and consistent grade of EX is entirely within reason. Good break down value here, or the toughest work accomplished for the hobbyist interested in compiling a full run.

2007 World Series Game One Dustin Pedroia Home Run Baseball.
The defining moment of Pedroia's 2007 American League Rookie of the Year season came just two pitches into that year's Fall Classic, as he took Colorado Rockies ace Jeff Francis deep over Fenway Park's fabled Green Monster, only the second time in history that the first batter in a World Series has homered. Presented here is that very baseball that set the dominant tone for the 2007 Series, which the Sox led for all but four of the thirty-six innings it took to secure its second World Championship in four seasons. The Official World Series baseball is nicely rubbed up for its brief, dramatic service to Red Sox history, with the golden stamping seeming particularly appropriate in this context. Pedroia's 10/10 black felt tip signature adorns the sweet spot, and his notation "Laser show," a reference to an earlier boast about his slugging abilities that made the newspaper rounds, stretching across the eastern side panel. The airtight provenance comes in the form of an Official Major League Baseball holographic authenticating sticker with the serial number "BB 680452." This number can be referenced at the www.MLB.com website by choosing "MLB Authentication" from the drop-down menu entitled "Auction" at the top banner of the homepage. As fitting a symbol as any for the Sox' transformation from heartbreak kids to heavyweight champs, this baseball will surely cause quite a stir among the Fenway faithful. We'll see who's the biggest Red Sox fan of all when the hammer falls on this lot.

1851-O AU 58.
One of the finest survivors of this date. Although available in quantity in grades of AU 50 and down, approaching mint state--like the example here--this issue is decidedly rare. As usual, the peripheral stars are weakly defined, but there is sharp detailing on the central devices. The coin has rich orange-gold color with generous portions of mint frost around the devices. The most significant marks are a long, vertical abrasion in front of the mouth of Liberty, and a short mark on the upper lip.
