The denominational columns are smooth, which best distinguishes this pattern from the issued copper-nickel three cent piece. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. A silver-gray example with even wear and no unpleasant marks.

1867 5C Five Cents, Judd-570, Pollock-640, R.5, PR58 NGC.
The obverse design resembles the contemporary three cent nickel, but in larger scale. The reverse displays the denomination within a laurel wreath. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. The scarcer subvariety (per Pollock) with the 7 in the date nearly touching the portrait. Medium cream-gray and orange toning graces this unblemished near-Mint pattern. The luster is diminished, but highpoint wear is elusive.
From The Jones Beach Collection.

(1976-1978) Gould Inc. Titanium MS66 NGC.
Dies of Pollock-5425, Baker-B707B, R.7. Struck in pure nickel with a plain edge, 26.5mm. A nearly immaculate example of this interesting issue, untoned aside from a mere hint of chestnut color. The NGC insert asserts the alloy is nickel. The Pollock reference lists the present designs only in titanium alloy (Pollock-5425), although Pollock-5440, without the TITANIUM legend, is listed as pure nickel. In the mid-1970s, the U.S. Mint decided that the crown-sized Eisenhower dollar was too cumbersome to circulate readily, and planned its replacement with a smaller diameter dollar coin. This project eventually led to the Anthony dollar, but private companies contributed to the effort with private patterns of various alloys.

1855 Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-168 Original, Pollock-193, R.4, AU 58 NGC.
The design shows a large eagle surrounded by 13 stars on the obverse, while on the reverse ONE CENT is surrounded by a thick laurel wreath which is, in turn, surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Struck in copper or bronze with a plain edge. The eagle is somewhat weakly struck, as usual, and the glossy brown surfaces display a streak of deeper violet-brown color across the left half of the obverse.

The reverse has the Great Seal of the United States. Struck in titanium with a plain edge. Brilliant throughout with exceptionally well-preserved surfaces. Envelope Included.
