1908 PR 65.
Proofs of this year are always a popular item with collectors. Not only is it the first year of issue for the incuse Indian design, and a low mintage date with only 236 proofs struck (many of which were melted), but all proofs also have a distinctive and quite lovely deep khaki color. This piece not only shows this khaki color but there is also a significant overlay rose patina on the highpoints and in the fields. The surfaces are essentially perfect, and this piece has some claim to an even higher grade.

1908 MS 65.
The first year of issue for the incused design quarter eagles and half eagles. The design and method of manufacture was used from 1908 to 1929 on these two coin series only. This specimen displays full, satiny mint luster, a bright golden-yellow color, and smooth surfaces which are virtually mark and abrasion free which, in itself is a rarity for these coins. Trends $4,700 (5/23).

1908 MS 65.
First year of issue and one that we see infrequently in gem condition. Sharply struck for the issue, with bright, lustrous surfaces and pleasing yellow-gold color, this piece has exceptional eye appeal and virtually no abrasions. Only a few marks in the upper reverse field keep this coin from an even higher grade consideration.

1908 MS 64. Exceptionally clean for this conditionally elusive type, the striking details are boldly brought up, except at the top of the eagle's wing as always, and the mint luster is certainly adequate for the grade.
