NGC 1939-D Oregon MS 67.
This was the last year and lowest mintage of all the Oregon Trail coins. This superb, sparkling gem is very lightly toned, and the lack of abrasions indicates it has been carefully stored for many years.

1880-CC $1 MS65 NGC.
Considerable contrast is noted on each side, although unrecognized on the holder, with much luster and untoned brilliance. The strike leaves a few roller marks on the hair above the ear, but these CC dollars in GSA slabs and graded by NGC have enduring popularity, in addition to their obvious aesthetic appeal.

Auction 368
| Lot: 6801 | Mar 25, 2005
Sold For:

1851-O G$1 MS62 NGC.
This is a typically well produced representative of the issue with only minimal softness of detail on the hair curls over Liberty's brow. The obverse is overlaid in rich orange-gold color while the reverse is a little lighter in appearance with a mostly yellow-gold sheen. Both sides are equally free of singularly distracting abrasions with pleasing luster quality for the assigned grade.
From the Ashland City Collection. Ex: Heritage 1/03.
From The Richard J. Chouinard Collection of United States Coins, Part Two.

Variegated pearl-gray and honey-gold color fills the centers, while wisps of tobacco-brown, powder-blue, and lemon patina illuminate the margins. This nicely struck better date near-Gem is limited in grade only by a luster graze on the neck.

Sold For:
$1,000.50
1883 50C MS64 NGC.
This medium-gray Liberty Seated half dollar with some sea-green peripheral toning is one of only 8,000 business strikes minted. It is generally well-struck except for some softness on Liberty's hair and in parts of the motto.

1891-O $1 MS64 NGC.
Just a touch of light gold toning over fully lustrous, satin-like surfaces that are virtually blemish free. This remarkable specimen would probably rate full-Gem status were it not for some weakness in the hair over Liberty's ear, and on the breast of the eagle. Population: 594 in 64, 43 finer (3/04).

1888 5C MS65 NGC.
Well struck with nearly mark-free surfaces and attractive satin luster. The light-gray surfaces only show a few tiny nicks on the reverse. A highly granular texture (as struck), near the obverse borders, is an indication of a late die state. Population: 42 in 65, 12 finer (7/03).
