1787 COPPER Nova Eborac Copper, Large Head VF30 PCGS.
Breen-985. The first of the dies for the Nova Eborac Coppers, the so-called Large Head type, exhibits a poor layout. Two widely separated cinquefoils in the left obverse field force the word NOVA toward the back of the head, and EBORAC in the right field is distant from the device with a nearby cinquefoil. A surprisingly smooth golden-brown representative, the devices are clear and the centering is only a few degrees off toward 3 o'clock. Prominent die bulges are visible in the obverse fields, especially to the right. Listed on page 65 of the 2006
Guide Book.
From The Oak Collection of American Colonial Coinage.

1794 1C Head of 1794 AU50 NGC. VF30 EAC.
S-43, Die State I, High R.2. A handwritten envelope that accompanies this coin in John Adams' hand gives probably the best description and short history of this Short Bust, Weak OF coin: "An honest, unpretentious coin. Even light chocolate color, virtually free of identifying marks. Somehow it stood as W W Hays' best in 1893 although 1907 H/P (Hays/Phelps) Sale also contained a sharper specimen with broken die. 'Lost' until ANA 1957, Kissner 1975." Apparently the coin wasn't quite as 'lost' as John believed as Del Bland was able to reconstruct the pedigree of this piece with only one unnamed intermediary between 1907 and 1954. The piece really is very pleasing with attractive, even color, the only mentionable defect being a shallow scratch below ES in STATES.
The reverse is plated in the Frossard-Hays book as #34.

8424 - The Nixon National Bank of Reno
Reno, Nevada
1906-1915 (title changed)
George S. Nixon was a prominent Nevada business and political figure at the turn of the century. He befriended a rising young man who would later become the most powerful man in Nevada during the 1920s - George Wingfield. Their partnership earned a fortune for both and Nixon went on to become a U.S. Senator from Nevada. Nixon's banking interests were located in Winnemucca and Reno and collectors can thank him for contributing to the numismatic history of two banks.
$10 1902 Third Charter, Red Seal, "P," (Fr-615 S-1386)
Very Good
8424 - The Nixon National Bank of Reno, Nevada
Cashier: F.M. Lee, President: George S. Nixon
Double Serial Numbers 1663 - T113840, 3 examples known.
A total of 5 red seals are known on this bank under the "Nixon" title. George S. Nixon was elected to the United States Senate in 1905 and organized the bank the following year. Nixon was the president of the bank until his death in 1912. This is one of the early notes that bears the Nixon signature. One of Nevada's red seal notes and extremely rare.

1795 1C Plain Edge, S-77, B-6, R.3, VF30 PCGS.
Breen Die State II. Select portions of the reverse, especially the O in OF and the N in UNITED, are weak from a partially clogged die. The surfaces are otherwise well defined and smooth, with uniform chocolate-brown patina. Light wear leaves most of Liberty's hair strands delineated. Eye appeal is pleasing for the grade.
