The clock depicting a sorrowful Marie Antoinette consoled by male companion in the moments leading up to her execution, clock depicted in architectural prison environment with barred windows and doors, four armed soldiers standing by and one soldier readying to open prison door, clock faced surmounted and flanked by revolutionary motifs including furled flags and plumed helmet atop toppled fasces, flags, quiver, and rams head.
This clock was a 21st birthday present to Shirley from David Butler, the director of Temple's 1934 film Bright Eyes.
