Daniel Arsham's Clock (Future Relic 03), 2015, from an edition of 400, is among several artworks that will be on display during the Urban Art Pop-up Trunk Show at the MCA Store April 5-7 and April 7-11.
"This partnership places Heritage Auctions on the cutting edge of the uniquely American Urban Art and collectibles genre," said Leon Benrimon, Director of Modern & Contemporary Art at Heritage Auctions. "The MCA is at the forefront of contemporary art and culture and originates some of today's most groundbreaking exhibitions, from Takashi Murakami to Virgil Abloh: "Figures of Speech" opening this summer."
"Similarly, Heritage has pioneered expanding the Urban Art and Collectibles field, so this partnership made perfect sense. We are very excited to partner with such a fantastic institution and more importantly to bring these collectibles to the MCA Store and give collectors access to these objects while at the museum," Benrimon said.
A well-rounded Urban Art collection of about 100 different objects combines traditional art concepts alongside new mediums; including a rare pair of Nike Air Mag Back to the Future sneakers and examples from artist Jeff Koon's Balloon Animal series, Sunflowers by Ron English and the latest collectible art by BE@RBRICK and skate decks by Supreme.
"We are thrilled to create such a special moment with Heritage Auctions and bring together some of the rarest Urban Art objects in one space," said Helen Yi, Director of Retail Experience at the MCA Chicago. "With pieces such as the iconic Back to the Future shoe, the Urban Art Trunk Show is a unique blend of art, culture, and retail that showcases a collection unlike Chicago has ever seen."
The Urban Art Pop-up Trunk Show takes place on the second floor of MCA Store. High-resolution images of all objects are available for viewing at HA.com/MCA.
