Heritage Offers 4,300+ Lots At February Long Beach Signature Sale

Dallas, Texas. Heritage’s Feb. 2003 Long Beach Signature Sale, the official auction of the Long Beach Coin Expo, is now open for bidding. The entire catalog is posted online at, Heritage’s award-winning website, and bidders can also participate through the printed catalog, available for $30 through Heritage. This is Heritage’s 37th major sale at Long Beach since 1985. Prices realized are expected to exceed $4 million.

“Our February Long Beach catalog,” noted HNAI Director Bob Korver, “contains an incredible array of wonderful coins. Of special interest top me is that of our eight anchor consignments, four came from consignors whose holdings were so significant that we have been offering their coins in multiple sales. Anchor consignments include the BTB Collection of Gem Buffalo Nickels, assembled over many years; The Jay Eisenberg Collection of Mercury Dimes, containing Registry level specimens; Part 4 of the Philip Kaufman Collection, with more of his exquisitely toned Seated issues; the New York “Eye Appeal” Collection of extraordinarily colorful and prooflike Morgan Dollars; Hans Poetsch has added additional Standing Liberty Quarters from his important collection (Part 5), as well as additional coins; Ira Rosen has added additional Morgan rarities from his impressive holdings.”

“The Long Beach auction,” added Heritage President Greg Rohan, “is resplendent in classic 20th century rarities and proof gold. In the Buffalo Nickels, we have a Gem 1914/3, a pair of 1918/7-D in MS63, a Gem 1926-S, and a Gem 1937-D Three-Legged; in the Mercury Dimes, we have a 1916-D, a 1919-D, and a 1942/1, all in MS65 FB; a 1918/7-S Standing Liberty Quarter is graded MS64 Full Head NGC. Among the nineteenth century rarities can be found Lot 6280, an 1876-CC Branch Mint Proof Seated Dime, graded MS65 Specimen by NGC. More than 4,000 lots of such quality material will make this a sale to be remembered.”
