Heritage World Coin Auctions' September Long Beach Signature Auction of Nears $1.4 Million;

Total Long Beach Sales Pass $17 Million

Dallas, Texas: Heritage World Coin Auctions' official Signature Auction at the Long Beach Coin Expo realized $1,379,608. Heritage also presented three other Signature events in Long Beach: Heritage Numismatic Auctions, $8.1 million; Heritage Currency Auctions of America, $5.3 million; and Heritage Sports Collectibles Auctions, $1.9 million. In total, Heritage offered more than 14,000 lots of exciting numismatic material from every specialty. Additional post-auction sales, as well as the on-line Bullet Auction which closes tonight, will swell the total well past $17 million. The auction, held Sept. 9 through 11, was Heritage's 52nd appearance as the official auctioneer of the Long Beach Coin Expo.

According to HWCA Director Warren Tucker, "The Canadian coins were especially strong, as were rarities from the other British territories, colonies, and Commonwealth countries. Lot 12606, the Canadian Fifty Cent of Victoria from 1898, certified MS64 PCGS (clearly superior to the MS62 Belzberg coin), realized $32,200 against an estimate of $10,000-$12,500; Lot 12607, an 1899 Canadian Half Dollar from the same source, certified MS62 PCGS, realized $29,900 against a pre-sale estimate of $8,000-$10,000 (based on the similarly graded Belzberg coin that fetched nearly $11,000). We saw incredible demand for the many individual rarities found throughout the Palmer Collection offerings."

"Strong collector demand," continued Tucker, "was also seen for Russian material, and most of the coinage from the Middle East in the Lake Pearl Middle Eastern Collection. Israeli material continues to seek a wider market, although it continues popular at current price levels."

Today I received the catalog which is a work of art unto itself. When I found my lot I was literally blown away by what Craig had done with the presentation....... quite amazing to say the least!
