Important Tiffany Illuminates at Heritage Auctions

Rare stained glass highlights Art Glass event

Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass and Patinated Bronze Nasturtium Lattice Floor Lamp
DALLAS, Texas (April 14, 2021) — Lamps from Tiffany Studios are renowned in part for the way in which they demonstrate the ability to replicate nature.

A trio of such lamps will shine brightly in Heritage Auctions' Tiffany, Lalique & Art Glass Including Art Deco & Art Nouveau Auction April 29, including a stunning Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass and Patinated Bronze Nasturtium Lattice Floor Lamp, circa 1910 (estimate: $80,000-120,000) that stands nearly 64 inches tall."Tiffany Studios' Nasturtium Trellis shade was produced initially as a hanging shade, and is presented here on a beautifully patinated junior floor base, capturing the interplay between rigid architectural and sinuous natural elements, " Heritage Auctions Senior Vice President of Special Collections Nick Dawes said. "Native to South America, nasturtium was common in American gardens by the turn of the century, brightening them with brightly colored flowers over distinctive circular leaves. The shade on this lamp represents nasturtium beautifully, capturing the different stages of the vine's development from a single stem accented by a single butter-yellow flower to mature blossoms of tangerine, fuchsia and crimson."

The careful selection of glass is not limited to the blossoms, instead evident throughout. The trellis and nasturtium vine are set against the multiple blue and violet shades of the sky, which create a striking contrast with the red-hued blooms. The trellis is composed of a variety of greens, from olive to emerald to a seafoam-tinged opalescent glass, especially on the stalactite-like terminals on the apron.

The floor lamp is one of three Tiffany Studios leaded glass lamps in the sale, which also includes:

Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass and Patinated Bronze Daffodil Table Lamp, circa 1910 (estimate: $30,000-50,000)

Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass and Patinated Bronze Black Eyed Susan Ceiling Lamp, circa 1910 (estimate: $30,000-50,000)
