Shazam! Heritage Comics to Debut Two New Auction Formats at Wizard World Chicago 2003.
In conjunction with its official sealed-bid Gallery Comics Auction of wholesale material at the WizardWorld Chicago 2003 comic and popular media convention, Heritage Comics (HCA) will also debut another exciting new auction format, the Heritage Lightning Auction™.“Lightning Auctions are a unique format, combining the best features of our Signature and Internet-only auctions,” said John Petty, HCA’s Director of Auctions. “These will be fast-paced events, like our current ACA (Amazing Comics Auctions™) sales, but we’ll also issue a special catalog, with descriptions of each lot and a selection of color photos. And most important, the material will be on display at the convention! Bidders can expect a wide range of material, from key Golden and Silver Age titles to exceptional original art to hot Bronze and Modern Age material. Without a doubt, there will be something for everyone.”
Lots for the first Lightning Auction will be available for viewing at WizardWorld Chicago 2003, August 8-10, with bids accepted through the Heritage website (www.HeritageComics.com), by mail, phone, email, fax, or in person. Interested parties will also be able to register and leave written bids at the Heritage table at the show. Unlike Signature auctions, there will be no floor session, and the auction will close at 10 pm CST on Wednesday, August 13, 2003.
Heritage Comics will also conduct its first Gallery Comics Auction, of wholesale and bulk material. Unlike Heritage’s ACA, Signature and Lightning auctions, Gallery sales are sealed bid only, with the high bidder of each lot paying their full bid price (i.e. unlike ACA, Lightning and Signature, high bids will not be reduced to one increment over the second highest bid), plus the standard 15% Buyer’s Premium. Gallery Comics Auctions are based on a format that Heritage has already perfected through over $5 million in Gallery coin auction sales over the past four years. Gallery Comics Auctions are expected to become especially popular with dealers, hoarders, and eBay sellers.
“And yes, consignments are currently being accepted for both of these inaugural events,” Petty added.
