Texas Hill Country Lodge Offered At No Reserve Through Heritage Auctions

Built to last for generations, contemporary home presents rare opportunity near Austin

Salado, Texas estate

DALLAS, Texas (January 3, 2019) — With housing inventory tight, and consumers clamoring for a better way to buy and sell real estate, Heritage Auctions is leading the way creating a new solution for the way real estate is sold: the online auction. Take, for example, an extraordinary contemporary home near Austin, which is being offered by Heritage Auctions via a no-reserve online auction Jan. 23.

Completed in 2018, this custom-built home at 1394 E. Creekview Road in Salado, Texas, was created to demonstrate that homes can be built out of sustainable materials, designed for minimal maintenance and energy efficiency, and be mindful of the history and beauty of the natural environment. Built from thick limestone blocks and Core-10 steel, the 4,000-square-foot home features three bedrooms, three living areas and two rooftop decks. Local artists were commissioned to create custom floors, trim and cabinetry out of reclaimed centuries-old long leaf pine, stained glass windows and stone carvings.

"This is an extraordinary property in a gorgeous area of central Texas," Heritage Auctions Luxury Real Estate Director Nate Schar said. "The homebuilder was careful to preserve most of the native landscape during construction, so you still have the cliff, native trees and wildlife on the three acres. Running along the back of the property is Mustang Creek, and when you're down by the creek bed, you can imagine that it hasn't changed much since people first arrived in the area. It's incredibly tranquil."

Tributes to the land's history can be found throughout the home. Custom stained glass windows depict local highlights, like the historic First Baptist Church in Salado, bluebonnets and mustangs. On the exterior, some of the two-and-a-half-foot-thick limestone walls have been carved with depictions of longhorns, native people and fossils. Several of the arrowheads found onsite during construction were embedded into the façade of the fireplace.

Built with sustainability in mind, the thick locally-sourced limestone and Core-10 steel were chosen for their beauty and durability, and because they require minimal maintenance. The home also features eco-friendly design elements like tankless water heaters, zoned HVAC and solar panels. The builders took the extra step of drilling a 900-foot well to ensure a reliable water supply.

"The owners have chosen to offer this home via no-reserve online auction to capture true market value in the most efficient manner possible," Schar said. "It is an extraordinary property, and the interest in the property has been tremendous. You've never seen anything like it."

This must-see home can be previewed from 1-4 p.m., Jan. 19-22. For more information on how to bid in the online auction, please call 855-261-0573 or visit
