Cryptocurrency: Casascius gilt silver Loaded (Unredeemed) Gold Rim 1 Bitcoin (BTC) 2013 PR69 Deep Cameo PCGS
DALLAS, Texas (May 23, 2025) — A Casascius gilt silver Loaded (Unredeemed) “Gold Rim” 1 Bitcoin (BTC) 2013 PR69 Deep Cameo PCGS will be among more than 100 of the tangible treasures that will land in new collections when they are sold in Heritage’s June 6 Physical Cryptocurrency Featuring the Otoh Collection, Part IV Platinum Session Signature® Auction.

The event marks the fourth installment of the Otoh (“On the Other Hand”) Collection; the first was offered at Heritage in October 2023.

“Cryptocurrency has continued its trend of rapid evolution as a popular collectible, in part because of the fact that digital currency can be received, stored and sent without intermediaries, offering a measure of financial control that did not exist previously” says Cris Bierrenbach, Executive Vice President of International Numismatics at Heritage Auctions. “The Otoh Collection is part of the legacy of the consignor, who is one of the early adopters of physical Bitcoin.”

The Gold Rim 1 Bitcoin is one of just 700 issued. Belonging to a rare subset of the standard silver version, it is selectively plated with gold on the “B” symbol and along the rim on both sides. It is rarely seen on the collecting market, and is being offered at Heritage for the first time.

Also from the Otoh Collection comes a rare Casascius gold Proof Unloaded (Unfunded) “Gold Cas” 1000 Bitcoin (BTC) 2012 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC that is one an estimated run of just 20. Unloaded and unfunded, it is a stunning, practically pristine example of the coveted “Gold Cas,” which was the first gold coin funded with cryptocurrency and the highest denomination coin produced by Caldwell. At the time of introduction they could be purchased directly from him loaded with 1000 BTC for $5,500. It is estimated that just five to seven coins were made with one private key, and an uncertain number, presumably around 20, were issued with the two-factor authentication as seen here.

Litecoin Foundation gold Unloaded (Unfunded) Artist Proof Ledger 2017
Based on the research of physical cryptocurrency specialist Elias Ahonen, Casascius gold-plated brass “Storage Bar” Bearer Bar Loaded (Unredeemed) 0.1 Bitcoin (BTC) ND (2011) Genuine PCGS from the Otoh Collection was among the first “empty” Casascius items, sold unfunded and allowing owners to load a custom bitcoin amount via the assigned firstbits and public address. How many exist remains unclear, but the fact that they are rare is clear, based their near-total absence in the marketplace. Another reason for the appeal to collectors is the design that is reminiscent of a 10-ounce gold bar.

One of the fascinating lots in the auction is a Litecoin Foundation gold Unloaded (Unfunded) “Artist Proof” Ledger 2017 that is an extraordinary and “crypto-adjacent” fusion of luxury, technology and exclusivity. This 18k gold ledger is one of the rarest and most coveted crypto-related collectibles ever produced. Originally planned as a limited edition of 50, only nine were ultimately created — a group that included eight numbered pieces and this unique, single “Artist Proof Limited Edition No. 00.” This No. 00 never was sold publicly, having been personally obtained from Litecoin creator Charlie Lee at a charity event. A portion of the proceeds from this lot will support the Litecoin Foundation; this another other lots in the auction will be showcased at Heritage Auctions’ table at the Litecoin Summit May 29-30.

Other “crypto-adjacent” highlights in the auction that also will benefit the Litecoin Foundation will include, but are not limited to:

  • A Cardsmiths Unloaded (Unfunded) “Currency Series 3 - Diamond Gemstone Refractor” Litecoin Trading Card 2024 Mint 9 TAG
  • A Cardsmiths Unloaded (Unfunded) “Currency Series 4 - Diamond Gemstone Refractor” Litecoin Trading Card 2024 Mint 9 TAG
Kialara Loaded (Unredeemed) OG Art Note 1600 Satoshis 2024 Choice UNC 64 Details (Stickers) PCGS
Cryptocurrency is not limited to coins. For example, a Kialara Loaded (Unredeemed) “OG” Art Note 1600 Satoshis 2024 Choice UNC 64 Details (Stickers) PCGS is a conceptual and visually striking creation from Kialara, blendingthe symbolic value of sustenance and cryptocurrency into one provocative piece. Limited to just 1,000 sequentially numbered and uncirculated 2017 Carranza/Mnuchin signed Federal Reserve $1 bills, each note features George Washington holding a ribeye steak on a grill fork, with hand-applied paint making each piece unique. The reverse includes a tamper-evident food security label protecting a Bitcoin private key loaded with 1,600 Satoshis (0.00001600 BTC), funded during the most recent halving in April 2024 when 1,600 sats equaled $1.

Other top lots include, but are not limited to:

  • A Ravenbit brass Loaded (Unredeemed) “Node” 0.001 Bitcoin (BTC) 2014 MS69 PCGS
  • A 1HoDLCLUB partially gilt-silver Proof Loaded (Unredeemed) “Poker Chip” 0.0025 Bitcoin (BTC) 2021 PR67 Deep Cameo PCGS
  • A SerpCoin aluminum Loaded (Unredeemed) 0.05 Bitcoin (BTC) ND (2013) MS67 PCGS
  • A Moonbits brass Loaded (Unredeemed) “1K Bits” 0.001 Bitcoin (BTC) 2019 MS68 PCGS
