Heritage Auctions Appoints Samantha Anderson as Chief Legal Officer and EVP of Business Development and Special Projects

Veteran attorney, fiduciary specialist and market strategist will help drive Heritage’s next phase of growth

Samantha Anderson
DALLAS, Texas (June. 12, 2026) — Heritage Auctions is pleased to announce that Samantha Anderson has joined the company as Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President of Business Development and Special Projects. Based primarily in Heritage’s New York and Dallas offices, Anderson brings extensive experience spanning legal counsel, fiduciary services, business strategy and client development across the art, luxury and collectibles markets.

In her new role, Anderson will oversee all legal matters across Heritage's global operations while helping identify and execute strategic growth initiatives throughout the company. Her unique blend of legal expertise, market knowledge and client-development experience positions her to support Heritage's continued expansion across categories and around the world.

“Samantha brings an exceptionally rare combination of legal acumen, business judgment and market experience,” says Steve Ivy, CEO and Co-Chairman of Heritage Auctions. “She has advised some of the most sophisticated collectors, fiduciaries, institutions and market participants in the world, and she understands both the complexities of our business and the opportunities ahead. As Heritage continues to grow, her leadership and strategic perspective will be invaluable to our clients and our organization.”

Before joining Heritage, Anderson practiced law at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, where she was a member of the firm’s Art and Museum Law group. There, she advised collectors, family offices, museums, foundations, galleries and other organizations on a broad range of legal and business matters, including transactional agreements, private sales, international issues, governance matters and estate planning strategies involving significant collections and assets.

Prior to Patterson Belknap, Anderson served as in-house counsel and Director of Fiduciary Services for Art Intelligence Global, an international advisory firm with offices in New York and Hong Kong. In that role, she counseled collectors and fiduciaries on collection management, estate planning and complex ownership matters involving significant cultural assets.

Anderson also spent several years at Sotheby’s, where she served as Vice President of Fiduciary Services. There, she managed relationships with fiduciaries throughout the United States and internationally while overseeing major estate consignments and advising clients on collection-related planning and disposition strategies. Earlier in her career, she worked with the in-house legal team of a multi-family office, gaining firsthand experience in wealth management and the unique needs of high-net-worth families.

The breadth of Anderson’s experience has given her a distinctive perspective on today’s collecting landscape, where clients increasingly build collections that span fine art, luxury goods and a wide range of collectible categories. Her background in legal affairs, fiduciary services and client development aligns closely with Heritage’s continued expansion across both traditional and emerging markets.

“Heritage has built an extraordinary business by combining expertise, innovation and a deep commitment to its clients,” Anderson says. “The company is experiencing tremendous momentum, and I’m excited to join this talented team at such an important moment in its growth. I look forward to helping strengthen the company’s business initiatives, supporting its clients and contributing to the next chapter of Heritage’s success.”

In addition to her professional practice, Anderson is a frequent speaker on the legal and business aspects of the art and collectibles markets. She currently serves as a professor of Art Law at Cardozo School of Law in New York, where she teaches future attorneys about the evolving legal and commercial issues affecting the global market for cultural property and collectibles.

Anderson will maintain offices in both New York and Dallas and plans to work closely with Heritage’s teams across all locations as the company continues its global growth.
