Heritage Auctions Appoints Whitney Maxwell Chief Marketing Officer

Art-market marketing and business leader will guide Heritage’s global growth strategy from New York and Dallas

Whitney Maxwell, Heritage Auctions Chief Marketing Officer.
DALLAS, Texas (Sept. 8, 2026) – Heritage Auctions announces the appointment of Whitney Maxwell as Chief Marketing Officer, effective Oct. 5. Based in Heritage’s New York and Dallas offices, Maxwell will lead the company’s global marketing strategy, overseeing brand development, digital initiatives, client engagement and campaigns across Heritage’s more than 50 collecting categories.

Maxwell brings more than 15 years of experience driving growth in the art and auction industry, with a career spanning marketing, digital strategy, operations and business leadership. She most recently served as Managing Director of Bonhams|Cars, the auction house’s global motoring division, where she held full profit-and-loss responsibility. She led an international team across sales, operations, marketing, client services and digital strategy and oversaw relationships with premier motoring organizations and events, including Formula 1, Goodwood, Zoute Grand Prix and Monterey Car Week.

“Whitney combines deep marketing expertise with the perspective and discipline of an experienced business leader,” says Steve Ivy, Heritage Auctions CEO and Co-Chairman. “She understands how thoughtful storytelling, client insight and technology can work together to build a brand and expand a business. Her experience leading global teams and developing new audiences makes her an outstanding addition to Heritage as we continue to grow around the world.”

Maxwell began her rise at Bonhams as Marketing Director for North America, building the company’s U.S. marketing function into a fully integrated global team serving fine art, decorative arts, collectibles and motorcars. She led a digital-first transformation of the company’s marketing strategy and infrastructure, including an overhaul of its email marketing program that increased engagement and helped drive a significant rise in auction registrations.

She later became Deputy Director of Bonhams|Cars, where she spearheaded the division’s rebrand and launch of its standalone digital platform. She also developed new client-engagement and segmentation strategies and helped secure high-profile partnerships that introduced the brand to broader audiences.

“Heritage has distinguished itself through its entrepreneurial spirit, extraordinary range of expertise and commitment to collectors,” Maxwell says. “I am thrilled to join a company with such tremendous momentum and to work with its talented teams to strengthen the Heritage brand, deepen engagement with clients, and introduce new audiences around the world to collecting across categories.”

Earlier in her career, Maxwell served as Managing Director and Marketing Director of Artspace, a leading online marketplace for contemporary art. There, she led marketing, revenue, operations and digital strategy while expanding gallery and brand partnerships. Maxwell earned a Master’s in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Lawrence University.

She lives in New York City and will divide her time between Heritage’s Manhattan and Dallas locations.
